Wonderful meal! Crab cakes were filled with succulent crab and the best I've ever had. Had the Mahi Mahi for dinner-amazing. Honey tangerine martini was hands down one of the best martinis ever, and the vanilla bean creme brûlée was to die for! Our waitress was just a sweetheart and very attentive to our needs. My friend had the oysters-she said the best she ever had. May not look like much from the outside, but Chives is a real treasure!!
I experienced my first visit here last night and it was the best meal I’ve ever had!! I loved the butternut squash ravioli, the lemon chicken and for dessert...the hoho! Amazing! I’ll be back!!!!
We had heard of this place from friends as a “sister restaurant” of RYE Fine Dining, our favorite Appleton restaurant! So of course we had to try—and we’ll be back!
Like RYE, they have nailed approachable fine dining. Comfortable dining room, excellent service (our server was Michael 👏👏👏, but the whole staff was very attentive and courteous), and the food was creative and delicious!
We enjoyed a few specials for the evening, along with the French Onion Soup!
I heard a lot about this place and it certainly has its charm. I loved the decor and quaint feel of the bar. It was small and busy but not crowded. They have a great selection of alcohol and a nice wine list. We started with east coast oysters and chicken and goat cheese wontons. Both were exquisite. We skipped soup and salad and went straight for the main course. The monkfish was perfectly prepared and the compliment of Chinese seasonings gave it a unique flavor. The potato croquettes on the dish had a great crunch and creamy center. The chicken Marsala was a little disappointing as it was over cooked and I was unable to finish it. The green beans on that dish were some of the best I’ve ever had and the mushrooms were plump and succulent.
I had the French onion soup. It was amazing! Prices are high but quality is worth it. Wait was a little long for food on a Friday but that's expected.
Entrees are good, the atmosphere is supposed to be upper scale for the area but guests don't get that, most are dressed too casually. The go to specialty dessert is the chives ho ho. It's not worth it. Slightly frozen little taste.
Honestly one of my favorite restaurants I have ever been too. The baked onion soup is phenomenal and the lemon chicken never disappoints. The staff always do their best to be at the ready and often go above and beyond such as remembering my youngest son always asks for a stick of olives upon arrival....even when new faces are working you can tell they have received some damn good training.
