After spending 2 days in the heat at Upheaval fest my friend and I were looking for a kitchen open late that was close by. Vitale's popped up and after looking at the photos of the interior I was sold. We arrived at 11pm and the kitchen was open for another half hour. We got a large meat lovers pizza, and let me tell you, we were blown away. One of the best pies I've had in a long time. Fresh from the oven the cheese pull was epic. The Italian sausage had a great fennel flavor and the sauce was slightly sweet. The staff was great being very attentive even though we rolled in almost at the cutoff. Really the only thing I would complain about was my phone (t-mobile) could not get a signal inside the restaurant. But that's my network's issue not Vitale's.
The BBQ chicken pizza was excellent!! Our waiter was so upbeat and happy (I think his name was Brice). On a not so great day we were having, he was a breath of fresh air.
Many things can be a bit better with this place.
However, the Pizza surprised me. I've lived in many states, and like different types of pizza. This is that kind the T.M.N.Turtles eat. In a good way.

After a long day of working in a snowstorm that supreme half cheese 12 inch pizza I ordered was excellent. The sauce , it’s something about the sauce I love so that is my go to sit down spot to have a drink with friends and a bite to eat. It is a neighborhood meeting place, they are very popular when you mention a good pizza that tastes handmade (it is) and not pre-fabricated. This is it! The waitresses are friendly and make sure you get your food and drinks as quickly as possible. I believe it is a family owned business, and it feels like it when I go in there. They have been around for years. I look forward to visiting there again. If you’re in town and want to have great pizza, stop in and watch a game on tv while having a bite, or a small get together in the front dining area, this is it!!
Great, authentic Italian dishes and a good draft beer and wine selection. 🍷
With such a wide variety of food within Grand Rapids, it's very difficult to choose a favorite. But this one, is definitely in the top five. Maybe, even in the top three.
One of the best stuffed bananas I’ve ever had hands down. This dish was absolutely fantastic, I love the banana mustard combo go so well together. 10/10
Order taking was seamless, the staff was polite, they had my food ready in less time than stated, and even after a 50 minute drive home, the pizza and the sub were still warm and delicious.
Great staff, especially Kristy, the lovely bartender. It was a warm and welcoming experience by staff and fellow guests. The pizza was good (not like Chicago, I'm from there) but delicious nonetheless. Also, it was my first time there. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.
This was a very nice place, with good food. My only complaint is that we paid for a half pepperoni pizza, and there were like, 6 pepperonis on it.
