Our first ever visit sold us on making Big O's a regular haunt. We took our 2 young children (ages 2 and 4) to Big O's for their half off pizza night, and the waitress was awesome with them! She spoke directly to them to take their drink order, which the kids loved. She even offered a virgin Shirley Temple to cheer up my disappointed 4 year old since they didn't have fruit punch--worked like a charm even though my daughter opted for pink lemonade instead. The menu is phenomenal and the prices are what you would expect at a place with lackluster toppings and fare...yet Big O's uses premium ingredients. We got a pepperoni pizza and the Big Dirk pizza (chicken, mushrooms, onions, bacon, etc). Both were amazing!! We plan to make this a regular family pizza night stop, and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a small town feel restaurant in the middle of downtown.
This is a great place to eat! The pizza is amazing and I have never had a bad meal. Its a small place and sometimes it gets busy and you have a wait but it has never been more than 20 minutes for us.
I would’ve given Big O 5 ⭐️’s but the service could’ve been better on this occasion.
What I ordered :
12” Brando Pizza
What I liked:
Crust ✅ even though this pizza is topping heavy, the crust was crispy and had a nice, light flavour to it.
Sauce ✅ the pizza sauce was really tasty.
Overall the pizza was pretty good. The combination of toppings gave the pizza a nice flavour. The crust was light and not too doughy like some places. I would order from here again.
What could’ve been better:
Service ❌ the service could’ve been better. The server didn’t ask me how the pie was or if I needed anything. I was the only person in the restaurant for the majority of my time there but I felt like she was more interested in hanging out with her colleagues in the kitchen. If I returned, I would likely get takeout.
It may have just been an off day service wise but they are turning out a good product, so check them out if you’re in the area!! 💯
The crust! the crust! the crust! Pizza is my favorite snob-food and Big O Pizza has got it going on with their fine crafted thin crust! I tried their vegan ricotta cheese with spinach and mushrooms. Atmosphere was NY classic with great lighting.
Very solid. Sourdough pizza crust was excellent. Perfect level of greasy. Lovely cocktail made with care.
This place is no frills pizzeria. I ordered a meatlovers & it was phenomenal! It was the smaller size & I ate 6 of 8 pieces. Next time I'm in Grand Rapids I'm gonna pop I. For a pie!
Yesss! This place is a yes! The food is wonderful. We had quite the variety and was not disappointed with any of it. Service was good. Our girl was very accommodating. Good drink selection. It was just an overall great choice and I'm so happy we found this spot.
Love their pizza and garlic knots. Service is great, everyone is so nice. Always a fav of ours.
So I didn't have time to write this review when we were there because we worked literally all day and we were trying to find a place to eat because we were staying at the hotel this place was open and they had some of the best looking pizza around so we came in got some drinks and sat down and boy was I not disappointed the pizza was absolutely delicious crispy on the bottom really good sauce and cheesy on the top reminded me of New York style these guys are doing it right the only thing I regret is not living closer to them
Great place for pizza and drinks with friends. Be adventurous with youpizza choice, you won't be dissapointed!
Such a cute little place, the pizza is to die for. Gotta come back and try the drinks! Service was really good.
Big O's was a place I ate at when I was student at a nearby college. My friends introduced me to the place and I hadn't been back in years (8+) but always remembered their amazing calzone after all this time. Recently I was back and it tasted even better than I remember!
Their marinara sauce is out of this world (scrape to the bottom good) and the tomatoes and garlic tasted so fresh and fragrant. If you get their calzone, I highly recommend you try Italian sausage as one of the meats. It has SO MUCH FLAVOR and doesn't quite taste like any other sausage I've had before.
The calzones are really loaded, you could probably get two meals out of one. I got mine with Italian sausage, pepperoni and tomatoes. I thought the tomatoes might make it soggy (I just needed a least one veg in there) but it was not soggy at all (guessing mine was cut open at the top to prevent this?). The calzone was perfectly crisp yet soft on the outside and the cheese oozing on the inside. I'm salivating just thinking about eating this again. The garlic knots appetizer was also tasty and the garlic magic oil they put on everything is also really good.
I hadn't tried their pizza, but if their calzone is anything to go off of, I'm sure I'll be happy with either.
Last came here on a Friday and they had room for us that evening. Tables are spaced apart comfortably. Cool spot. Looking forward to coming back!
