A true taste of the Caribbean! Being from the Caribbean myself I can say that this restaurant is worth the visit! Each dish is made with love and full of flavor 🌴 🥥
What a charming spot in Grand Rapids. Olga greeted us at the door and her infectious smile and warmth set the tone for the rest of the evening. The food was flavorful in ways I wasn't expecting. We had the jerk chicken with red beans and rice and the coconut sauce was incredible. Additionally, we shared the appetizer sampler and the strawberry sauce made each bite delightful. Dessert was freshly made rice pudding (they ran out earlier but she made some just for us and Caribbean cheesecake. Unbelievable dinner and amazing service!
I LOVE gumbo and have a couple of places that are my go-to. Chez Olga's beats them all.
However, it was at least a 30 minute wait. Even though there were very few people in the place. There were two of us. We waited 11 minutes to get waters and a menu. Then, we waited 9 more minutes to place our order. After watching 3 tables get seated, then leave due to no service, we decided it would be an adventure to stick it out.
It took another 21 minutes to get food. But...the food was GREAT!!! We had the shrimp gumbo, mango lemonade, mango papaya frozen drink, creole.
I hate waiting more than 20 minutes to get seated. So waiting this long to get food was a trial. I actually think it was almost worth the wait. But, next time I'll just order their take-out!
Worth the wait!!!! Give the staff a bit of time for good eats, no regrets. Atmosphere is calming, loving and light. My kid and I hadn't been out in a long while but she loved and remembered her past all-time favorite.
Have you ever felt like you were being hugged by a dish? The gumbo was easily one of the best meals I've had.
You can taste the love in Olga's cooking. The plantains, passionfruit drink, and rice pudding were extremely nostalgic for me. I already wanted to come back before I had even left. Olga is such a warm spirit and she took the time to chat with my family and I. This is my new favorite place, hands down.
Olga is a precious lady who cooks delicious Caribbean cuisine. She chats with her patrons as if she's known them for years. She gives a personal touch to the service it's obvious she enjoys what she does and you will enjoy letting her serve you a delicious meal.
Overall all experience was 4/5. Decent portions and tasty food. 1st time here. I need to come back for a better assessment. Mango 🥭 lemonade was awesome. A tad too sweet for me. But awesome 👌🏿 plantains were delicious
The BEST food you can get in The Midwest. My god I don’t even want to tell you about this place so it doesn’t get crowded but this woman deserves business. Even the left overs became the second best meal I’ve ever had.
Olga is great. Phenomenal service. The food was fantastic. We ordered rice pudding, Olga said thery were out. Olga made rice pudding on the fly. It was awesome.
Where to begin with this place. Not only is the building one of a kind and so unique but Olga herself is the heart and soul of the place. I have never been taken care of at a restaurant the way she took care of us. She treated us like family, laughed with us, guided us in what to order, and even helped us choose the spice level she thought we would want. Guess what her suggestions were correct. Every single thing on the menu we ordered was amazing, there was not a single thing we didn't enjoy. When Olga says spicy, she means spicy and you should take her advice when ordering. I honestly can not wait to return to this restaurant. Not only is it a great place for lunch, and dinner but also a good hang out spot when they are not busy.
Olga thank you for every thing you do, I can't wait to come back and see you. You definitely made my first experience at your restaurant unforgettable!! ❤❤
