Havent been here since pre covid, so happy this place is still open! Pies are still delicious and they even make biltong in house now!
Very yummy pie. Light flaky crust and the filling was chunky with a good texture. Very meaty flavor. I got the beef pie. It was $9 though so not cheap but it will give you enough food to satisfy if you are not super hungry.
The Lamb Pasty is delicious and the service was very nice .
If you’re thinking about trying this spot out, run don’t walk. The pies here are out of this world. They’re beautifully flaky, filled to the max, very flavorful, and they’re huge (one whole pie can be a lunch portion). The man at the counter was so friendly and made us feel completely at home. I bought some frozen pies to eat at home as well. I can’t wait to come back!!
We live in Deltona Florida and we drive 3 hours to go to this place. My wife is from Cape town SA. Its the closest place for her to get authentic SA food. The meet pies are the BEST that I've tried and I'm Puerto Rican. We always take frozen ones home and the Biltong is the BEST, fresh all of the time.There's no other place around like this one. A MUST go visit. A++++++
This is a nostalgia store for South African expats to get a little taste of food from home or anyone else that wants to experience South African favourites food items and comfort food. It’s our go to place for Biltong, it’s fantastic just like the old country. Pastry Pies whisk is back home from the first bite.
Wow they know how to make a good meat pie! I had the lamb pasty - very delicious on every level. They have lots packed in a relatively small shop, I wish I could try it all! A few South African drinks to choose from in the fridge as well. I’ll be back to try the other pies and sausage roll!
My FAVORITE place to visit when I get to Florida. I always buy fresh pies. Biltong, dry wors (sausage), South African cookies and sweets as well as Mrs Balls Chutney. Our favorite foods away from home
This was my first time visiting Meal in a Pie and it was a wonderful experience! The girl behind the counter was more than happy to answer all of my questions and make some delicious recommendations. I got a few different meat pies to-go (my favorite was the steak and kidney!) and I loved how buttery and flaky the crust was! I also got some candy treats and a few pantry items. Can't wait to go back and sample more items!
If you’re in the area, this place is a must try! The pies were hot and full of flavor. The filo dough that surrounded the deliciousness was flaky and will leave you wanting to come back for another bite. don’t forget to add a little side of their freshly made chutney. The gentleman at the counter was more than nice. I highly recommend that you run, don’t walk, to get a meal in a pie!!
