Finally made it to Fowler’s Southern Gourmet and left extremely satisfied. We arrived right when they opened to avoid the crowd (was still second in line), was pleasantly greeted by the owner, and then we placed our order. About ten minutes later, the food arrived and we started to chow down.
The “hog wing” was a meaty shank coated with their signature bbq sauce and so tender, it about fell off the bone. 10/10
The “burnt ends” I consider melt in your mouth meat candy. It was so good I had to put in a second order. 12/10
The sides were a great compliment as well, fresh cut fries, moist cornbread, and pretty good mac & cheese.
I just have to start by saying WOW. I found Fowlers during a google search on a road trip and the hype is real. This is first of all a veteran owned business (support our Vets!) and you can tell the care that goes into every part of the business from the food to the customer service. There can be a bit of a wait and items can run out quickly as they are super popular due to the limited hours and fantastic food - but trust me it's worth it. I got a pulled pork sandwich with fries and the broccoli salad. The pork was perfectly cooked and shredded and the sauce (I believe is called the Carolina Bee Sting) is super tasty. I got a side of the vinegar sauce, because I love my NC vinegar sauce since VA, SC, and other states just can't seem to get the spices to vinegar ratios correct or maybe the aging process) and it was tempting to just straight up drink that sauce. I didn't. But it was tempting. I did use it all on my fries as a dipping sauce though. Speaking of the fries - they are fatter fries like steak fries but so much better. I like a bit of a sogginess to my BBQ place fries and this had it done right. My husband really like the broccoli salad too - but I didn't get a chance to taste that as I was too into the fries and dipping them in the vinegar sauce. Highly, highly recommend stopping here if you are in the area or just out searching for great BBQ places!
Service was great. They wiped down table immediately after the customers had left. Food tasted excellent. Portion is just right for one single person. Not too big.
Best brisket I've had in my life. Super sick hidden gem in Fayetteville. Only knock is limited hours of operation 11-2. They tend or run out of stuff toward the end of that window so get there early. So good!
Undeniably one of the best restaurants in Fayetteville. My pulled chicken was covered in the sauce of my choice (sweet&spicy), but they have various options to suit any taste. The collards - are so delicious! The Mac n Cheese - Scrumptious! One of my favorite local spots to dine.
I came here while on a tour of the top dozen eastern NC BBQ joints. This is easily some of the best BBQ I’ve ever had. Service is also excellent. Try each of their sauces, they are amazing. All the sides are good as well.
I spoke with the owner for a bit and you can tell he really cares about delivering a quality product. He buys local fresh ingredients and even local wood. Another thing to note is that they use Cheshire pork.
Highly recommended and I can’t wait to come back to try some of their other meats.
This was my first but definitely not my last visit!
The food and atmosphere is amazing! The staff is very welcoming and friendly.
I got The Q-Ritto and it was delicious!
Update: I've been here at least 10 times since this review and everything I've been pleased with my experience! You definitely want to try this place
Ugh so amazing. I had the pulled pork sandwich and it was so so so good. As soon as I walked in the owner was greeting customers and talking to everyone, the service was fantastic. They were out of the sides I wanted (Mac and cheese and collards, around 1 pm) but I'm not even deducting a star because the sandwich was that good. Easily some of the best BBQ I've had in NC.
