Vigilucci's Trattoria Italiana

This place is perfect for date night. If you don't care for the sound of trains I would recommend sitting inside as the train tracks are across the street and trains pass frequently. I love trains so it did not bother me. The food was delicious. The eggplant was perfectly cooked and covered with the perfect amount of mozzarella and sauce and the pizza was rich and creamy with cheese. The lava cake was a chocolatey and delicate. I want to go back to try different dishes.

What a huge disappointment! A solid failing grade from us for completely failing to communicate and leaving us without enough food for our Christmas eve dinner. We have been customers for a number of years and have always been happy with the food and service we received at Vigilucci's. Sure prices have gone up but the quality was always there. Knowing they would be busy we ordered our dinner well ahead of time and we received notice that our order was confirmed. 5 hours later and a few minutes before they were due to deliver they emailed us, no text, no phone call and said they were sold out of an item and cancelled it. Of course we didn't know that until the order arrived and was missing an entrée. So my wife got to eat crackers and cheese instead of some nice Italian food for dinner. She is allergic to shellfish or I would have shared mine. Neither the restaurant or Doordash offered any explanation or help in resolution. Needless to say, it will be a cold day in hell before we order or return there to dine.

Nice Date Spot. I ordered the Bismark, Pizza: Tomato sauce, mozzarella, asparagus, truffle oil and oven-roasted eggs. and I added Arugula. It was delicious! I've been looking for a place in San Diego that made this pizza, so I'm excited that I found a place. I will be going back to try their pasta or if I'm craving that pizza👌 The outdoor patio dining was open for dining during covid Aug 2020. I recommend making a reservation a head of time (you can do it via google maps app "Reserve a table" Taste-5 star ⭐ Vibe-5star ⭐ Value-4 star ⭐ Staff-4 star ⭐

It's always like coming home. Authentic Italian fare, kindly and attention servers such as Amy, Jeff, Emilio, and others. Uncommonly personal and sincere attention from hard-working people that have converted a neighborhood tavern into a culinary community of laughter, piano music, and a lot of goodwill. Have loved it for some 15 years!
