Awesome Tamales. Chicken Verde is very spicy. But the last few weeks.....they've been sold out and Closed?!! Really upsetting. Thought I finally found my sanctuary.
No LARD!!!. Tamales without the guilt of lard! Who would have thought? They feature several varieties of tamales at all times. Sweet, red, green chile and cheese (great for vegetarians), chicken with green chile--simply fabulous. The tamales are hot, well packed, absolutely fresh, and great for freezing.
Thank you so much to Jorge for being so kind to me this morning. He’s the owner of Pepe’s tamales. He helped me into the store and helped me put the bags in my car. Seriously a very stand up man. That makes me appreciate him and says a lot about the way he runs his business. 🥺 Really needed that this morning.
I wish I could give this place 1000 stars !
I am originally from El Paso but I live in dallas ,
And by far these are the BEST tamales ever !
In El Paso there is a big competition when it comes to authentic tamales and in Dallas there’s literally no where you can find a good tamales . So everytime I come in town this is my first stop ! Literally !
Even when my grandpa comes down to Dallas for thanksgiving or holidays I always send him money to bring me multiple dozens because they are just so delicious! I crave them !
On thanksgiving I’ll be eating these tamales instead of the turkey and big thanksgiving traditional feast the family makes .
I’ll even hide the tamales to make them last because once people see some Pepe’s tamales , they all grab ,
And they don’t just grab one ,
They grab like 3 at a time .
I would highly recommend this place !
Also Jorge who is the beautiful smile you see when you first walk in was literally the nicest most welcoming guy ! He made us feel so special because of the great hospitality he gave us .
You definitely don’t get people who are this sweet and happy in life in Dallas .
So it’s always great and heart warming to come across people like Jorge ! Pepe’s tamales will definitely be my go to forever in my heart place for literally the rest of my life .
No other place could compare .
After reading the Google reviews here, and having a minor craving for Tamales, I felt it was time to try the communities favorite tamale joint. I tried all 4 of the types of Tamales that Pepe's offered. The regular red chili isn't really anything special, but the green chili and cheese (as many of you glorious taste chasers have mentioned) was great. I also liked the green chili chicken. The sweet dessert Tamales though... um it's just not for me or my wife. Next time we go there we'll probably get another dozen, but just between the three good ones. 😋
My 1st time here. I was greeted by this sweet young lady in her 80's with a smile when I came in. As I waited for my order she talked to me about how great the tamales were and she made me remember my mom. The tamales were a bit smaller than usual and you can taste a bit of sweetness in it (I ordered red tamales). She was right, they were delicious. 👍👍
Lived in El Paso 25yrs. Transfered to Central TX. Every time I go down I-10 I take Viscount take back a few dozen of the Pollo con Chile Verde. Thank you keep up the tradition.
Cash and check only. Tamales are great! This place has been around longer than I have. The green ones are my favorite, but they are spicy!
Great service, hot tamales any time of the day. What more can you ask for.
