Jake's City Grille

4 stars for the sandwich 0 for service $16.50 prime rib paired with horseradish cream & au jus. I don't think I've ever ordered a prime rib other than one from Arby's. This is actually pretty good. Tender & flavorful, the au jus wasn't too salty. I chose cottage cheese as my side. Service however, was horrible. Amanda's section wasn't busy, but she seemed like she didn't know what she was doing. A table that sat next to us not long after we got there, evidently got the wrong order delivered to them. Unbeknownst to Amanda, she didn't pay any attention until almost 10 minutes of the woman sitting there trying to flag her down. Love the atmosphere! Fountain in man-made pond next to the outdoor seating area in Eagan. They also have an outdoor bar, fireplace and bistro string bulb lights for the evening. Food is great and good variety for family or large group. There are still so many menu items that I want to try. If I can't decide one day, then I might just get their dessert. It looks so good. Inside atmosphere is great also, but more cosy and I love coming in the winter time for the cosy atmosphere. I come in the summer time for the exterior seating. Wait staff is excellent. Some even take the time to remember your name.

Had couple of hours to kill so decided to go to the bar. Very limited choice of scotch whiskey. Most of the bars nowadays have a lot more. Ordered appetizers and right away got attached by a swarm of fruit flies. Bartender said he could not do anything so ended up leaving my food and sending it back. Have been to other Jake’s grill locations this is the first time had a poor experience.

I was there on a Monday during happy hour. Menu was interesting. Prices were a tad high. They need to improve the training of their staff. My order was wrong, my burger then arrived ten minutes after my wife's meal. It was under cooked - a particular fail since they serve the patty melt cut in half. No manager visited our table, and no comps were offered. I don't make a big deal about mistakes. Lord knows I made plenty when I ran a kitchen. I can't remember, however, a time where a manager didn't visit our table after a mess up. A pretty cool place, they just have to work on their fundamentals.
