Ice cream is excellent!!!!! You have to sample the BACON ice cream!
Moving to Dunedin. I am from Louisville, Kentucky. This place has now made me want to move here! The ice cream is delicious and the atmosphere is so cute with the cows. My fiancé and I literally ran here tonight so we would sure to make it by closing time!
Service is great & the selection is tremendous. Try the Carrot Cake ice cream. I know what your thinking but just sample it. Everything else is awesome. Seriously I sampled so much. Just had too.

Yummy!. My husband is an ice cream fiend and we are on the hunt for the best ice cream in the bay... this is high on the list. The moment you walk in the door THIS is what an ice cream parlor should be. From the decor to the smell you know you have arrived. I had the birthday cake ice cream which was really good with mixed in sprinkles but I wish it had cake pieces and frosting. My husband had a scoop of heath bar and a scoop of mint chocolate chip. Both were very good and the staff was great and quick. Not sure it is our new favorite but definately has potential.
Great Ice Cream ... but .... The Ice Cream was REALLY REALLY GREAT. Too many options to choose from. My favourite has to be hands down the black cherry. YUM!
However, the desserts in the cooler have been a little one note for me. Tried the key lime pie and the chocolate pie. The key lime was ok, not the best in Florida, and reading the ingredient label for the chocolate pie, it said it had coffee in it. Sadly all I could taste was sugar. I couldn't even tell there was cocoa in it. Not happy with the desserts from the freezer, but the ice cream is WORTH THE TRIP!

The cakes and pies are delicious (carrot cake recently voted the best in Tampa bay!) but the biggest reason to go is te Yummy Yummy sauce. Caramelized chocolate sauce! The Yummy Yummy sauce is what heaven tastes like
For the adventurous. Their ice cream is good, but make sure you take the opportunity to get one of the unusual flavors like Smurf, or pumpkin or any of their "special" flavors. If you're just going for chocolate or vanilla, you're not going to get anything truly exceptional.
Whether you are visiting Dunedin or are a resident, you don't want to miss visiting Strachan's! We will often skip desert while dining out and instead stop here and walk-off the meal on the Pinellas Trail or walk down to the marina. The staff are super friendly, the ice cream is all hand made and they also have other desert treats. Everything is top-shelf and the vibe is, clearly, a nice family atmosphere!
Want ice cream? Having a chocolate snack craving? Maybe in need of a cake or pie? Look no further. If in downtown Dunedin this is your place. Order up some sweet treats and walk the town or have a seat outside at one the benches.
Just wait til the door opens and you smell the fresh baked waffle cones. Staff is incredible. Ice cream is rich and soft. And they serve Gatorade in cans there. I don’t know why I love that so much but I do. Tons of ice cream spots around, but this is the one you want to end up at.
The ice cream 🍦 tasted really good and treated us with kindness. They could’ve closed the door on us at closing, but they didn’t want to disappoint my son. It was our first time there, so we took a moment to pick what we wanted. No one complained, but I could tell the young people were ready to enjoy their evening. I had to ring the cowbell and let them know we appreciated it. Man was it good. This will be our regular ice cream shop.
We came to Strachan’s after our boat rental in Clearwater. Despite being extremely busy the staff were all really friendly. The young man who took our order answered all my wife’s questions and was really nice to my son. My Boston shake tasted great! Definitely coming back here next time we are in the area on vacation!
Wow! This place was booming! The wait was well worth it! I ordered a gooey hot fudge brownie sundae and honey got the jamocha almond. Both were very yummy! Great place to take the family.
Stachan has become my regular stop every time I am in Dunedin. Their ice creams are tasty and rich, smooth in texture. Nothing tastes artificial. Plenty of flavor choices. I love their vanilla malt shake, as good as that of Little Anthony in Tucson. The parlor has a cool 1950s vibe. Portions are generous, they don’t skimp on quantity. The employees do their best to serve quickly. Telltale sign of durable success: Strachan is never empty, there’s always families in there.

My teen son and I walked in to look at ice cream for after dinner (we would only be in town for the night)… after 2 minutes of looking around we quickly debated the rationale of the dinner then dessert in social norms. We ended up selecting 1.5 pounds of various fudge, grabbed a glass bottle Coke, and continued our dinner discussion at their outdoor table, while munching said fudge. AMAZING. Did I mention we were on our way to dinner?? 😂 The vibe of the place was cool, staff super friendly and engaging (ring that bell at checkout!) and only negative is we never tried the ice cream (I made the adult decision that fudge would be our appetizer and we went to eat dinner). We’ll be back soon!!
