Like so many places, Chimalma was short-staffed during our visit. Nonetheless, we still enjoyed the atmosphere and food. They've done a very nice job with their small space. Though we didn't have any cocktails, we saw several other people enjoying them and they looked tasty and of a generous size.
I had a great experience here. Server was nice, the tacos tasted great, and the atmosphere was fun. Portions however were a bit small for the price but given that it's in downtown Dallas, it makes sense. Come here when you aren't too hungry and you'll have a great time! Frozen marg was great and out of all the tacos I had, (carnitas, brisket, and pollo al pastor) pollo al pastor was definitely my favorite. Best flavor out of all of them and chicken was cooked very well. I should have listened to my sever and gotten them the first time around. Fancy tortillas too!
Thoroughly enjoy our meal and service. You can tell everything was made from scratch and authentic. Fideo is complementary (and some of the best I’ve had), the torta and raspadas were delicious. The server was excellent, friendly, and helpful with recommendations on public transportation. Two thumbs up for sure!
Sooo good! Definitely want to go back. Had the trio appetizer10/10, shrimp tacos 10/10 and piña colada cake 10/10 so moist like a tres leches. Service is so fast not even 5 minutes passed before I got my meal. It was QUICK idk how they do it but it was impressive and delicious.
This place is so good!! We took a walk through downtown to visit the JFK Memorial and Dealey Plaza, and happened upon this. If you aren't looking for it, you'd probably miss it walking by, but it faces the JFK Memorial. The food is fantastic and they crank it out fast! Drinks were delicious. They have a ton of tequilas. Trio appetizer was tasty. Tacos were so good. The torta was delicious. The cake was wonderfully light and creamy, and not too sweet! Service was topnotch. We really enjoyed chatting with our server at the bar. I absolutely recommend this place for a great meal!

Unique and tasty Mexican food. We especially loved the chips! They were thick with just the right amount of saltiness. The noodle soup served as a complimentary appetizer was a nice surprise. We ordered two of the vegetarian taco dishes and a cheese quesadilla. The cheese in the quesadilla was ah-mazjngly melty and delicious! I especially loved the slaw served with my tacos - crispy and crunchy with a nice kick. Finally, the drink I had - a chimalma margarita or something like that - yes please! We sat right by the window on the street and had a great view of the JFK Memorial. The restaurant was short-staffed, and the owner was working his butt off, serving food and mixing drinks, but he kept calm and cool and did a great job!
