Excellent! Just ate there for the first time. The place is a little rough but good food can be found anywhere. I got 2 brisket tacos and they were very good. I also got a bean egg and cheese taco and it's the best one I have ever had. It's a one man show inside and it's pretty impressive that he can pull it off. I will defbr going back
Great Food! Don't be fooled about the exterior . Robert makes the best tacos in town. Try the brisket. Get extra hot sauce. Made fresh. You will not be disappointed.
Surprisingly Delicious. The owner, Robert, has an amazing memory of his customers, even if they only come in once a year. Get the brisket taquitos - best things ever. And don't be fooled by the hole in the wall appearance/ grunge factor.
Good place. Tacos are good here. I ate here when I was in hs; reading a SK book. I went away and forgot about this place. I recently went back and the cook (who i assume is also the owner) asked me how was the book. 12 years later.
I agree with the other review. I have also been comin to el mesquite for years, ever since I was little and what keeps me comin back are the breakfast tacos!! It's down the street from my parents house, so convenient to call our order ahead and pick up breakfast tacos anytime of day! The lunch menu is also great, I feel like I've grown up with this place the owner has known me since I was a little girl..try it you won't be dissapointed and don't let the exterior fool you most great restaurants aren't anything special from the outside or even the inside..let the food be the judge
Best taquitos. This hole in the wall has been a staple favorite for literally decades. They have the *best* breakfast taquitos in South Texas, and thereby the best in the world. I like potato, egg, bacon & cheese, and brisket, potato & egg.
I will occassionaly try a plate (breakfast or texmex or BBQ) and they are good, but the taquitos keep me coming back.
Delicious food. I believe he must cook with some weird kind of grease or something though because both times I came it made my stomach feel very odd. Kind of like that feeling you get when you eat to fast, but from the stomach up. After coming back a second time for his delicious breakfast platter I finally decided that I am not coming back. Unfortunate for me.
You wouldn't even think this place is open but if you want breakfast you must stop in. I'll be honest here it's not the classiest place in town but an easy 5 stars for the food. Get a brisket, egg and bean taco. Brand are a must here.
the tacos were very good . called in my order and it was ready when promised and the staff is friendly . looks like have found another place to enjoy breakfast and it's only a phone call away
Try his home made hot sauce and the guys name is Robert he makes everything by hand and believe me tacos tacos home made Taco I'm bout to go get a egg cheese bacon bean and a sausage egg bacon potato cheese with bean ha ha ha mmmm good come on you breakfast eaters come and get it . Small place but the food here is unbelievably good a place you don't want to judge by its cover brisket and sausage taco is my favorite
