Visited first time last night. Good food, good service. Will be back.
Stuffed peppers, Italian food like my grandma makes, and its all as authentic as it gets. If you go home hungry its your own fault. It's tough to choose between them and Armstrongs. Try em both, again and again.
Good Meal. Its a family owned place & you get that feel from the minute you walk in. The menu is adequate with all the tialian items you could ask for. The service is good as is the fare. I have had several dinners there sampling different items & not a bad one yet.Besides the good food & service Marios has the one ingredient thats rare in Pittsburgh.Consistency! Enjoy.
Great Italian food. If you like garlic, this is the place for you. Their homemade garlic bread is so good, you may be full before your dinner arrives. The meals are pricey, but judging from the full parking lot each night, diners prefer the taste over the cost. We always enjoy our meals, kids, adults alike. The service is good and we have plenty for leftovers later. Full bar adds to the date as well.
Delicious dinner and great service!. Asked front clerk at hotel for restaurant recommendation and she suggested Mario’s. We did not think much since it was in a strip mall but once inside, the service and food definitely made a great impression! The hostess and server were wonderful and attentive – took time to chat and asked about our travels. The food was delicious! Fried zucchini was ribbons of crispy goodness, my pasta with mushroom marinara was oh so good and DH enjoyed his chicken piccata. There was so much food that we had no room for dessert. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely go back!
Wonderful Italian. Let me start by saying you know when you walk in how the experience of the evening will be. We arrived at 5p, seated right way. The server brought us waters and asked if we would care for any other beverage, a variety of house wines, drinks, the house pinot was very good. The bread, was covered drizzled in butter and covered in garlic, we ate those quickly, wonderful. I ordered the special stuffed pork, filled with spinach, sun dried tomato, with soup and salad, was a perfect combination. Service was attentive, and that is all you ask of. Ended with a decaf espresso and passed on dessert.
Food 8, Service 6. I have been here a few times, the food is usually very good, but the servers can be a little slow, few refills, etc
I will go again
Dinner rolls covered in butter and garlic... Awesome! Great food and a fast and friendly staff.
Great Italian Food - but beware of upcharges!
My wife and I enjoyed the daily special, which was a penne Bolognese. Nice flavors, plenty of meat in the sauce, and tender pasta. There was an extra plate charge of $3 to split the order. The pasta was $18 plus the extra $3...
The special had one free side, so I ordered a side Caesar salad and was charged an extra $2.50. Apparently on the menu is says only the house side salad is free. The extra cost of the Caesar side wasn't a good value at all.
My wife had a Mario's special salad, which she enjoyed. We had to remind the server to bring the salad dressing.
We began the meal with a stuffed banana peppers appetizer. The menu said they were spicy banana peppers and they were too spicy for my wife. I'd never had this dish before, so I was glad to order it and try it - but just once.
Overall - we enjoyed the food. The service was friendly but just average. And the prices were higher than they should have been after the upcharges. After splitting an entrée, taxes, and tip - and drinking just tap water - the total bill was $44.00. That's pretty high for what we received, and we probably won't go back.
We wanted to have a bit of comfort food without driving all the way into the city from our hotel near the airport, and this was relatively close and open somewhat late, which sealed the deal. It's easy to miss, tucked into a small strip of shops on a dark road, so you definitely need to be looking for it. The space is large, but divided into smaller areas so it feels a bit more intimate than it looks. The food was ok, somewhat disappointing considering what we were smelling. The bread was way too greasy and garlicky, and the sauce on my entree (Mario's Own Hot Sausage Casserole)was so watery that I had to pour it into the bottom plate before I tried to eat. My daughter's parmigiana and pasta were very good, and the spumone and the lemon berry marscapone cake were excellent. It was a decent meal, just unfortunately not a great one.
Traditional Italian menu, family owned restaurant. Nicely plated, delicious food. Friendly, helpful waitstaff.
I'm in town overnight for a party and I wanted something close to my hotel......this place is amazing! Small intimate space, family oriented, great Italian food, amazing service.....the chicken piccata is very good and the huge garlic rolls, slathered in butter with garlic cloves on top......diet be damned! Very nice experience; will definitely come here again when I'm back in town
Warm, friendly atmosphere and wait staff. We had excellent fried zucchini and perfectly seasoned lump crab cake appetizers. The tender lemony veal piccata was absolutely delicious!
