Review The Pepper Canister - Chicago

Marion Knight
If it were possible, I would give The Pepper Canister, 509 N. Wells, Chicago ten stars. Ivan and his staff are amazing. Their hospitality and caring for patrons are outstanding. I had my son Shawn’s 1-year Memoriam at Pepper Canister and I could not have been blessed more by the power above than to have Ivan provide the perfect place, offering delectable food and awesome drinks in celebrating my son. Memoriam guests all agree. Ivan… thank you and your staff for your taking such great care of us.

Great local bar from what is sounded like. The heaviest pour i have seen in a long time. I was crazy happy and the bartender was super friendly. Did not know that the bar is named after a Scottish church that they have a picture of on the wall behind the bar. Cool vibes...

Sit down, listen to some music & relax. With a recently updated menu, the food here is excellent with all the Irish staples, as well as great burgers, salads & appetizers. The music is top notch & 6 42"+ big screens have all the sports. It is a drinkers bar and the staff accommodates, often participating or instigating themselves. If you are brave, sit at the bar & partake.

It's a really nice place to spend the evening and have chat. Not too noisy. Also the service is really good and there is a bartender who takes really good care of you.

One of my favorite places to have a drink or grab a bite in the River North area. The food is very good, offering one of the better pub burgers around. The fries with curry sauce is one of my go-to items on the menu. Nice selection of beers on draft, with all the spirits you could ask for.

Lovely place to have a drink and a nice, long chat with a friend. The Old-Fashioned the bartender made was wonderful.

OK but very loud. The inside has the feel of an Irish pub except for the noise. Nearly impossible to carry on a normal conversation. Food was OK but nothing special. Wouldn't go out of my way to return.

“Favorite bar is probably Pepper Canister on Wells. The staff is super friendly and it’s a really low key bar. At the suggestion of the bartender I tried a blueberry cider, it was amazing! I'm not a huge beer drinker so this was right up my alley. But for those that are, they have a great selection. For you ladies that aren't into beer either, they make delicious martinis and have some great wines. Their food is delicious as well!
