This is hands down one of my favorite sandwiches in Chicago. The Montreal style smoked pastrami here is on another level from just about anywhere else in Chicago, or New York for that matter. I've never been to Quebec so I can't compare it to the original, but the thick juicy slabs of brisket with pepper bark and soft bohemian rye simply hits the spot. Try the smoked cole slaw, pretty unique as well. Get there before 1pm on weekdays if you can as the run out frequently.

I've been craving pastrami from Fumare Meats for almost five years. The Reuben was every bit as good as I remember, with rye perfectly toasted with butter on a flat top grill, and the pastrami crispy on the outside and pull-apart soft on the inside.

"The Montreal Style Pastrami On Rye" is all you need to know. I've had a few of their sandwich choices and they are all good but nothing comes close to having the Pastrami that is just dripping with flavor.
The Signature Sandwich with it's choice styles of bacon and ham is a close second but the Pastrami?
Let me put it this way. After having eaten a Pastrami at 'Katz's Delicatessen' in New York I had sworn off of it anywhere else. A good friend told me I had to give it a try and I have to tell you I'm glad that I did. Having a great Pastrami shop in Chicago is priceless!
Not looking for a meal right away? Grab a sandwich (or just meat for one) today and enjoy it later! You won't be disappointed.
If I had to complain it would be to not go at noon if you are hungry right away as the line grows pretty quickly for this amazingly delicious spot.

As much as I love Manny's, Eleven City Diner, etc. Fumare Meats is the best place in Chicago to get a deli sandwich. The Montreal Smoked Meat is the best pastrami style sandwich you will find in Chicagoland, period. I would love to write a more elaborate review, but the review is simple. Do not miss out on this sandwich

Fumare Meats is a must try in Chicago’s French Market. The Montreal style pastrami on rye is just incredible. It’s seasoned so perfectly that it doesn’t need anything more than a little Dijon mustard. At $8.99, I’d like to see this sandwich come with at least a small side of potato or pasta salad, but even without, it’s still worth the price.

The Detroit and Montreal style smoked pastrami sandwiches is the best pastrami I’ve ever had. I’m deducting 1 star due to rude customer service. I asked the server to please give me a minute to decide which sandwich I’d like. When I ordered about 30 seconds later she never responded verbally or non verbally. Then she asked who was next and I mentioned my order again when she said I heard you sir in a derogatory fashion.

Hands down the best sandwich shop in the French Market. I used to work around here and the grab and go sandwiches were a weekly staple, especially the roast beef and cheddar and turkey and provolone. They're known for their Montreal-style pastrami which it's a must for first-timers but come early because it sells out.

Montreal style pastrami. Who knew? I had a really good sandwich and minestrone soup here. I wouldn't change a thing. It's a little expensive but it's on par with everything else in the French Market. Half sandwich and cup of soup was $11.
