Review Starbucks - Chicago

Suzy Vaughn
Starbucks, in general, is too rich for my blood. Don't see the sense in 6 dollar coffee and don't actually think their quality of coffee is good. Nonetheless, I had a gift card so I stopped in here on my trip to the Chriskindlmarket when I needed something warm to wrap my frostbitten fingers around. This particular Starbucks was quaint and cozy, and had a comfy chair to eat my smoked mozzarella sandwich and drink my egg nog latte, which were delicious. Staff was very hospitable, efficient, and accommodating.

It's a Starbucks so most people know what to expect. This one can be extremely busy at peak hours (especially the morning rush), but they do move the line pretty quickly. Plenty of seating. Free wifi. Phone chargers at tables.

Starbucks is trying to fix things that aren't broken. New remodels, taking away seating.etc. Also inventory is horrible(1lb bags of BLONDE**VERANDA) The managers can't order their own inventory. Corporate sends what they think is needed.

Just had the worst Starbucks experience ever! Two employees at 445pm but the one was only concerned with restocking shelves. One girl behind the register who seemed new (had to ask questions of shelf stocker) AND was the barista. People were waiting and she had zero sense of basic retail 101- serve the customer with speed. I asked why the shelf stocker couldn't switch gears to be customer focused and got no response. After waiting too long I asked for my money back and left; otherwise I would have been there another 15 minutes. Who manages this location?? Train your people properly because you're losing customers. Particularly in this location professionals have trains and buses to catch.

Not a good choice for your morning commute. Unlike the kuckass Starbucks in Union Station (a well oiled caffine machine), this location is the pits. I have mobile ordered on the train ride in at least 15 mins before arriving, and also in person. In person ecperience: I waited for 25 mins for my latte and was constantly told I was "up next" when I questioned if i missed being called or where my order was. Other annoyed customers were saying things like "20 mins for a drip coffee?" And " I've been here awhile... looks like I'm running late today". For the record all bodies in line were inside the location and I'd estimate a total of 25-30 people either in line to order or in line to pick up total. So, not horrible for a busy train station. Mobile experience: This is my own fault in a way, I mistakenly ordered from that Washington and Clinton location. I wasn't sure what the address for this location was, all I wanted to do was ask to be sure this was not the location I ordered from by showing them my receipt. I asked "excuse me" 3 time as politely as possible to different Baristas and got either ignored or told "I'll get you in a second" then walked away from. I waited patientlyrics for 10 mins before I had to leave, questions unanswered with no time left to locate the correct location. Somewhere on Washington there was a breakfast sandwich waiting for me but I was out of time, I had to give up. In this instance there was again about 25-30 people total in both lines. Others were muttering the same things I heard the last time about how it was taking forever and I watched people be ignored just like me. I will never purchase from this location again. I'll go to my normal location on the Riverwalk where I'm always out the door in no time and greeted with smiles regardless of how busy they are or what stupid undercaffinated jibberish I ask for.

I do not know if it is mobile ordering or how long it takes for them to get it but from start to finish it shouldn't take 25 min for one ice coffee. I ordered it 10 min ahead of time and stand for the remaining 15.

Friendly staff, small space for a quick grab and go. Quicker service than many of the other local Starbucks but of as all of them it is best to avoid around rush hour.

Pretty much your standard Starbucks but a great location near the Art Institute makes this convenient for tourists. They've got a clover machine here for the reserve coffees which is well worth trying if you're a coffee lover.
