A fantastic place! The most beautiful flowers chosen by a long time Chicago gem named Bruce. An amazing array of mid century treasures designed to give your home a clean modern feel with vintage charm. Bruce sold The Flower Flat in 2008 and has returned to once again bring beauty to East Lakeview. I will only buy my flowers from Bruce because of the quality and care he gives his flowers. Welcome back and thank you!

Adorable and cozy cafe with freshly prepared grub. Breakfast and lunch menu is perfect. Service is what it is for one person running the shop, but if you're in a rush there's no reason to come here. There's plenty of atmosphere, charm and personality to absorb while you wait. Black bean hummus was so tasty!

I give this a 5 for atmosphere and a 2 for food. I had really high hopes for this place. The turquoise door and window frames caught my attention the first time I drove by. I took my mom, who was visiting from out of town, for breakfast on a Sunday. The menu is very limited with only 3 options for breakfast. I read a review that said "best brunch place in Chicago" so I expected to have more than waffles, eggs, and a breakfast sandwich to choose from. I got scrambled eggs with fruit, potatoes, toast and a side of bacon. The eggs were a bit watery and everything was fine, but nothing spectacular. My mom got the waffle and she said she liked it, but I tried it and was not a fan.
They only have 1 server... He was great and personable when we first got there, but as the restaurant filled up, the service declined, obviously.
I wanted to love this place. Perhaps that was my problem, I had high expectations and the food didn't meet them.
Overall, I won't go back for breakfast, but I might try one of their lunch sandwiches.

Super cute little spot! They serve French press coffee and have breakfast and lunch items available at all times! I had the waffle and it had such a good flavor. Every time I've been here there has been a bridal or baby shower. Staff is very friendly!

Had the absolute worst experience. We hosted my sister’a baby shower here and the service was the worst I’ve ever had at an establishment. The shower was at 3 and we were told by the owner that we could come at 2:45 to set up. We showed up at that time and the two waitresses working acted like they had no idea why we were there, told us we could only set up a little part of the store because they were not ready and had an AWFUL attitude. Throughout the rest of the shower, their attitude did not change. Example, when we politely asked for some more water (because there were about 30 people and four PREGNANT WOMEN) they responded with “Um we just put out a bottle” honestly, anytime we asked for anything, we received eye rolls and attitude. We even generously tipped them at the end, which they did NOT deserve and received a sarcastic thank you after that as well. Afterwards, we contacted the owner and she NEVER responded. This happened last March and I waited a year to leave a review to give myself as much time to calm down as needed but feel so strongly about the awful experience that I needed to share. We will never host an event here again and I strongly encourage others not to do so as well. The food was great so maybe their restaurant is different and has better service, but if you want to host an event, quickly choose somewhere else.

I can't say enough good things about the flower flat. It has a very personal and cozy atmosphere, and the service is always so friendly. The food reminds me of home cooked meals, if mom was a professional chef. The chef always uses so many interesting flavor combinations. This is one of my favorite places in the neighborhood.

This is the definition of a neighborhood spot. When I grew up in the area it was a flower shop. Gradually they started serving food and a few years ago they transitioned fully into a restaurant. There's usually a single kind waitress for brunch, and the food is great. Limited menu, which is totally fine with me. Definitely suggest getting coffee - hot coffee comes with a personal French Press, and iced coffee comes in a little mason jar.
Go here and support local!

One of my favorite places in the neighborhood - it wouldn’t be home without the Flower Flat. It’s the best place I know in the city to wake up on a weekend morning and take stock while you wake up over strong coffee and great brunch. Make sure you aren’t in a hurry - it’s a small family operation with one chef, but I’ve always loved how that makes me take my time.

Held a Madhatter baby shower for my niece yesterday and am still smiling and talking about it. I couldn't have asked for anything more perfect from the décor to the food to the flower hair wreath to the outstanding, warm service Betsy provides. The guests all commented highly on the event as well. Thank you for making a special day even more so!
