Review Grandee Cuisine - Chicago

Wow!! We had dinner here New Year's Eve and what an incredible experience! This staff was attentive and quick. Any questions we had about the dishes or recommendations were explained with excitement. The noodles were perfect amount of bite and had an incredible deep rich flavor! The fried pork belly is delicious with the right texture of crispy outside and tender inside. You'll be excited just as we were at the idea of coming back again.

A must try! Every dish was flavorful! The servers were friendly and attentive. Quick to pick up the finished plates to clear the table space too. Nice and pleasant dining area. Clean. Bar service too. Metered street parking. It was easy for us to find a park on a Saturday evening.

Was in Chicago for a wedding and came across this restaurant in my google search. I have to say the food and drinks are excellent! The Taiwanese beef noodle soup is a must try! Flavorful broth and well marinated beef plus the house-made noodles makes the belly happy! Deep fried pork belly have the right spiciness and good meat flavor. Salted caramel crunch cake is just right to balance all those flavor and top off the meal. Iced lemon tea and warm Hong-Kong milk tea are very refreshing and just right for the season. Overall, the food are fantastic!

Beef Noodle soup was really good. Bok Choy was nice and soft, noodles and beef very tasty. However the star of the show was the dry spicy chicken in Chinese peppercorns and hot chili oil. So good! I could just that and a bowl of white rice all day.

Best Chinese food in the area. Which might not be saying much. I’ve really enjoyed the flavors, particularly in the eggplant, calamari, boiled fish, and spicy chili shrimp and fish casserole. Some classics like mapo tofu and green beans and twice cooked pork were unspectacular. Service is fine. It’s a nice clean setting. Generally expensive, but that what you get for being in this neighborhood. Not my first choice for Chinese food, but I’ll probably be back for the convenience.

They call it PONG PONG CHICKEN 🍗 @shangnoodlechicago What an amazing meal at Shang Noodle. New spot in Streeterville in the old Grandee cuisine store spot next to the orange theory and volare 👌 Everything was super well made including the 🥢pong pong chicken - Korean style fried chicken with absolutely the CRISPIEST 💥skin ever 🥢Braised pork belly - super hard to make , take 20-30 mins and melts in your mouth 🥢 Taiwanese beef noodles with the chewiest noodles 🍜 🥢Sichuan style beans , just as I remember them growing up 🥢Mandarin Duck : subtly sweet and citrusy + a delicate umami flavor from the duck marinade 🥤and of course my favorite hong Kong milk tea My two favorites were the braised pork belly and pong pong chicken. If I were coming alone I'd order the noodles and maybe a small side. Came back again for the jia Jiang noodles Highly recommend this spot, very authentic (since I come from Hong Kong)! We went here on a Saturday night. We hadn’t made any plans in advance and chanced upon this place when it was close to dinner time. The drinks were good, all standard cocktails, well-balanced. We were a party of 4 and all of us are vegetarians. Since we were not very hungry, we ordered one appetizer and 2 main courses for the 4 of us, which was the perfect quantity. The spring roll appetizer was good. For main course we got the Sichuan cabbage and the vegetables&tofu dry sizzling pot. These two dishes tasted amazing, although the cabbage wasn’t a super hit among the others in our group. I personally thought the cabbage was well made, not too many spices but not too little either and tasted great with rice. The two vegetarian dishes complemented each other perfectly and were ideal when had together. Overall, we were happy with this place and glad that we chose to come here for dinner.

Awful wait staff knowledge. Told waiter I do not eat meat esp Pork is against my religion when ordering. I ordered Shrimp dumplings from menu. I was given Shrimp/pork. When I got order, asked waiter to confirm that it’s shrimp only, and he said yes. Ate one didn’t taste like just shrimp (never had this kinda dumpling before) and he again reassures me that it is shrimp only. Cut open a piece, ask waiter again what’s inside, again states just shrimp and vegtables. Posted this pic on social media and friends asked why I’m eating pork. Asked another employee to confirm and manager said it’s shrimp+ pork. Absolutely inexcusable from waiter. They did not charge me for it but after asking 5 times that’s just ridiculous.
