Review East Bank Club - Chicago

Eddie Lou
Back in town for a beautiful chicago weekend day. Spent the morning at East Bank Club: spin class, weight lifting, hot yoga class. Then, in the afternoon, I stopped by the co-working space for a little bit of work, followed by a relaxing outdoor hot tub and indoor sauna. EBC is the best club in Chicago

Love this place! So clean, staff is so kind, and the club has everything you could ever need. Shoutout to Lorena at the restaurant who made my day - had me laughing the entire time. What a gem. Give this woman a raise.

I will preface by saying I primarily go to the gym to lift free weights and use cardio machines. East Bank Club is my favorite gym I’ve ever belonged to and it’s not even close. The weight room here is fantastic, with a ton of platforms, racks, cable cross machines, and various other good stuff. I usually go in the morning to avoid the post-work rush and i rarely have to wait to use anything. EBC has made it a joy for me to come in and lift every morning. Then there are all the other offerings. The pool in the summer is my favorite hangout spot. The co-working area is basically equivalent to an added WeWork membership which would run you like $50 a month. They loan you free Hyperice massagers, they have great massage chairs, and they just added those full-leg compression massage things. Since I joined, EBC has added many new things to the weights area, which is a great sign that they are constantly trying to improve the facilities. I will note a couple of downsides. The class instructors have been hit-or-miss (mostly miss) in my experience which is OK because I don’t love classes. I wish I didn’t have to pay $24 each time to play pickleball - it should be more like $10. And the service at the rooftop Sundeck is also inconsistent. All in all I feel like I can never leave EBC, even though I’ve only gone for 4 months.

I absolutely love this place. The staff is extremely friendly and courteous. The facility is always clean. There are so many things to do you can spend quite a few hours there if you desire. The classes are average — if you’re comparing them to a class only gym like Studio Three. It can get crowded, so if you want to workout and move on, I suggest going early in the morning. There’s an “I sit on machines for a long time” crowd that is the 9am crowd - avoid at all costs. The biggest issue you’ll have at this club is dealing with the entitlement of other members. Overall I’ve met a lot of nice folks but there’s certainly a contingency of folks who’ve never been told “no” in their lives and who have no regard for others. That part can be a bit exhausting.

One of thee best gyms I’ve stepped foot in, clean bathrooms, organized gym area and tons of amazing amenities 10/10 if you can do it!!

Was a member at EBC for about a year but left to be somewhere closer to home. Overall this is an amazing facility and has anything you could think of (spa, salon, weight rooms, food bar, tons of places to relax and study, etc.). I loved taking Pilates with Valerie and personal training with Predrag and Chris. The staff here is incredible. Respectfully, some areas could use some tweaking (i.e. customer service). Like most places, there are the good and the bad, but it’s ultimately what you make of it. Highly recommend becoming a member here if you’re really into being active.

I was not sure what to expect at the East Bank Club (since it as a fitness facility). I thought .. a wedding reception at East Bank Club .. really? It was excellent!! They have a cute room next to the river and the cocktail hour is up on the roof/pool area with outstanding views of the city. Fun location and it works perfectly. Management keeps everything moving smoothly and the food is delicious!! Great place to have a reception and/or party. Ray – The Connexion Band

One of the best fitness facilities in the country. Once you visit here you’ll realize no one can replicate this facility. The roof top is amazing and where who’s who of Chicago hang out. A hidden gem in the middle of the city. Also amazed that they don’t charge more for their memberships!!

This place is great. East Bank Club is probably the most iconic gym in Chicago. The most amazing equipment. Love East bank Club.

You get what you pay for. Yes its expensive, but the service & amenities are top notch! Rooftop pool in the summertime is the best. Highly recommend

I just rejoined after 5 years away. The workout area is incredible as always. What has impressed me the most honestly is the hustle and passion of the employees in the dining areas (and overall). I was in the second floor dining area just ordering some lunch to go and the workers were borderline running through the kitchen trying to get everyone their food as quickly as possible while maintaining a friendly attitude and taking time to ask people how their day is going to build relationships with the members. Couldn’t be happier returning to the club.

Love ebc! It might be old, but it's big and mighty! Yoga glasses are A+... more challenging than many Chicago studios. The app is easy to use and very convenient. Parking is affordable when validated. So many good things to say about east Bank!

Well equipped! They have every fitness machine you can dream of! The amenities are clean and they also have everything for you to get clean and ready such as shampoo, shower gel, lotion, hair dryer stations, towels, hair brush, shaving razors and more! I came in as a guess few times and spent few hours exercising and relaxing by the steam room, jacuzzi and dry sauna. The only comment I do have is that the second floor smells because the restaurant , not a smell that makes you want to grab food but overwhelmed strong smell.

The very best club in Chicago! It is also great for socializing unlike Midtown! Excellent food and smoothie bar.

I'm normally a big fan of EBC. However, since having kids I've noticed how inconvenient it is for people with children (or disabilities for that matter). Most importantly, there is NO elevator from the garage to the club. So if you have a stroller or a wheelchair or can't walk up stairs, you are forced to valet and walk outdoors instead of parking indoors and walking to the club from inside like everyone else. Secondly, the only place to "hang out" with children while another one is taking lessons is the locker room. I was told today that is not an option. Children under 5 can't be in locker rooms after 4 pm. There is absolutely no other location for parents. What if I had to feed my child? I had nowhere to sit for 30 minutes while my other one finished her lesson. I hear of all the renovations the club is starting. Yet, these issues are not addressed.

This place is great, it's huge & after your workout - it's like a spa day in the locker room!

Ok, so I decided this is the year I'm investing in me! Get healthy, lose some wieght be more active and try to be more social. So I find myself at EBC today and I have to say I was amazed at everything. The service, the equipment, the size of this place, the parking oh ya and the clientele and the food. I have been going to meetings here since 1991 and never walked past the bar. That was stupid! What a great way to start the year at the East Bank Club!

If I lived in Chicago, I’d join in a second. Very upscale and has everything you could possibly need and so much more

To call it a gym is to do EBC a disservice. EBC is a living fitness center urban resort filled to the brim with ways to help you live a physically, mentally and emotionally healthy life. As a heart disease survivor and thriver...EBC is literally my #hearthealth lifesaver and it is one the best things about my recent move to Chicago!

Filled with a bunch of "Not nice" people. There are a very few who are wonderful.
