Review Emerald City Coffee - Chicago

Owen Khan
I have been to a few coffee shops and this is the best I have attended in a while. The art work, music and ambience makes it the ideal spot to work, study or relax. The pesto mozzarella bagel sandwich was good but the iced cafe latte lacked any sugar. I would love to come here again to work if they could open late till 6 or 7 pm.

Very cute storefront there, one of the more affordable local coffee shops. They always have a little news board of local events which is nice to check out. Plus a large selection of board games, puzzles, and books. They also have a back quiet section for those who just want to read or study and be left alone. Lastly, shout out to Arlo. Favourite worker there

One of my favorite coffee shops in the city. Great drinks and food, amazing service, and such a wonderful and diverse crowd of people in here every day. Very much a “coffee house” vibe.

👋🏻 Hey fellow Google Maps users! ☺️ I went to this coffee spot/cafe on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 for a remote work day. I stayed from around 10 am - 3 pm. The lady that took my order was very nice. Unfortunately, they don’t have lemons so they were out of lemonade. I decided to give one of their teas a shot. I tried their apricot black tea. I’m a pretty picky person and didn’t end up liking it. Maybe tea isn’t for me. 😭 ☕️ Overall, I had a good experience at this spot. It gave me cozy vibes. They even had board games and puzzles. The music was played at a very good volume, somewhat loud enough for you to hear it as background music, but not too loud. The cushioned bench I sat at wasn’t the most comfortable and didn’t seem to be the most sturdiest. I was able to successfully get my work done and meet 2 of my students in person. I definitely plan on coming back here if I meet with my students again in person. ✨ Extra things that I felt like were cherries on top to my experience being here. I saw the cutest wiener dog ever and the lady that took my order gave the doggie bacon. In the bathroom, the entire wall including the door was a chalkboard. I had to represent the non-profit I work at, College Possible. 💌 I hope this review helps Emerald City Coffee & its current and future customers. Have a nice day! ☺️

Great atmosphere! Wonderful coffee and pastries. Nathan, Jo Jo, and John are terrific baristas,

I love the atmosphere of Emerald City! My favorite things about this shop are the breakfast tacos, the house made lavender syrup, and the daily trivia! The staff is always awesome, whether it’s first thing in the morning or right before close. This place is a neighborhood staple if you’re in the area, and if you’re just passing through I highly recommend you stop in to pick up some nice treats. I have not had everything on the menu, but I’ve only ever had one drink that I didn’t like. Otherwise it’s consistently good, especially the salsa and (again) the house made lavender syrup!

Wonderful place imo. I live across the street and stop in often. Coffee is great, as are the bagel sandwiches and breakfast burritos. Two rooms for seating/reading/working on your laptop if you want. Every employee I’ve met there has been friendly and works hard. Thank you for having me, I’m really grateful you guys are in my neighborhood!!!! Much love

I always love to hit up Emerald City when I’m in town for work. The tacos are always awesome and their bagel sandwiches are great too. The coffee also doesn’t disappoint and always hits the spot. Good variety of spots to sit if you need to get some work done. Generally quiet, though seems like the piano gets some love from time to time.

Have been a huge fan for years. Would go to the Sheridan location almost everyday when I lived over there. Now I stop into the Wilson location occasionally. Coffee is good and consistent, tacos are great, and their pastries are delicious! Best blueberry muffins I’ve ever had.

Just moved this from my want to go to favorites. Really cool staff and reasonable prices. The coffee was decent but the date bar was very tasty and unique. I didn’t get to hang out for long but the eclectic decor and overall vibe is cozy.

Quite the cozy coffee shop tucked away under the city train. The tacos are not that bad here. Get the Super taco if you're really hungry; the house salsa has a little kick to it. This would be the kind of spot to go to if you're trying to kill time and are near the train. The staff was friendly and attentive with minimal to no hassle or fuss definitely like this place.

Delicious Simone iced latte. I tried it because it sounded interesting. Chocolate, hibiscus and orange peel and it was so good! More like a mocha with hint of orange. I also had to try a breakfast taco which was quite tasty. I love the vibe of the shop!

Good coffee, but I ordered and paid and then they told me they were out of ingredients for my beverage. They did offer and make me a different one.

I stopped in for the first time today and I was not disappointed! The chicken pesto sandwich was tasty, the coffee was delicious, and the overall vibe was great. On top of that, the staff treated me well. They also had lots of great art on the wall and board games to pass the time with a friend or a group. I think I found my new spot!

Great strong cups of drip coffee at very competitive pricing esp if you can answer the trivia question and get 25c off.

I absolutely love this coffee shop...I work nearby and I wish the owner could open one up near me by Western and Devon...the coffee is amazing❤️

Great cafe. Really nice for studying. My favourite thing is they don’t keep freezing AC on so you don’t have to carry a sweater just for sitting in the cafe

Oh, I think this place is heaven. They bake everything on the premises. And it's great!. I'm addicted to their pastries. I'm addicted to the whole gestalt. The staff is always lovely and friendly. Brian, the owner is one of the best people I know. He cares about everything and brings that with him every day. He's one of those people and the coffee shop is just an extension of that. He supports local entertainment. There is even a performance space in the shop. He cares about the community. With all my heart I hope to see this shop prosper and propagate!

A very cozy, artsy bohemian style environment; the south wall is all window; and the outside neighborhood visual compliments the coffee shop. The peeps who work there are friendly and accommodating, and the food (I had the veggie sandwich) is good and reasonably priced. Coffee Mocha was tasty too. Background music playing at the time was pleasant and not overpowering. I've been looking for a coffee shop to hang out with my books and tablet, this just might be the place!

Some of the best chocolately ice coffee I've ever had. I adore this place! Their hours could be a bit longer in the evening and the food is a tad pricey but that's honestly my only complaint. The atmosphere is so cozy and inviting. The baristas are super nice. The drinks and food are all delicious.

This café has such a positive, warm, comfortable & artsy vibe. The owners/staff/baristas are incredibly friendly and welcoming. The environment is visually pleasing and the coffee is exactly what you are looking for. They also have baked goods, savory sandwiches & a selection of foods that will satisfy you if you get hungry during your visit. I love this café & highly recommend it! Above all, it's really the vibe that I'm in love with. That's the biggest factor that has me coming back.

So I've been twice now since they opened and everything I've tried has been great! Ice Coffee is fab and you have got to try the breakfast tacos. They are on point!!!! Nice atmosphere, great location and friendly employees. I think I've found my new local coffee spot. :)

This coffee shop is so approachable! The stuff is amazingly friendly. And the coffee and the sandwiches and all the beverages are really super. This is clearly a independently-owned coffee shop where the owner takes much pride and care of every aspect of his business. So much fun to be a Patron.

My wife and I were in town visiting for the weekend. We just happened to find this place on a Sunday morning while in search of coffee. It is a very cool place, with very friendly staff. Everything we ordered was delicious !!! I wish this place was closer to our home. If you live close by Emerald City Coffee, you are very lucky.
