Review New Furama Restaurant - Chicago

Gordon Cacioppo
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Furama and the experience was nothing short of remarkable. Nestled in the heart of Chicago, Furama offers a delightful escape into the world of traditional Chinese flavors, particularly with their dim sum. The highlight, without a doubt, was their dim sum. Each dish was a testament to the culinary skills and authenticity that Furama prides itself on. The menu offered a wide variety of choices, from classic steamed buns to more unique and adventurous options. The shrimp dumplings were a revelation – delicate, translucent wrappers encasing perfectly seasoned, succulent shrimp. The Siu Mai were equally impressive, with a rich and savory filling that melted in the mouth. Another standout was the barbecue pork buns. The buns were fluffy and light, with a sweet and tangy pork filling that was cooked to perfection. The Chicken Feet in Black Bean Sauce was a daring choice for me, but it turned out to be incredibly flavorful and tender, a dish that truly showcased the chefs' expertise in traditional Chinese cooking techniques. The freshness of the ingredients was evident in every bite, and the flavors were expertly balanced – a true hallmark of high-quality dim sum. Furama also impressed with its efficient service. Despite the bustling atmosphere, our dishes arrived promptly, and the staff were always on hand to offer recommendations and ensure our dining experience was seamless. Furama is a must-visit for anyone seeking authentic, delicious Chinese cuisine. Their dim sum is a culinary delight that promises to tantalize your taste buds and leave you longing for more. Whether you’re a dim sum aficionado or new to this style of Chinese dining, Furama is sure to impress with its exceptional food, charming ambiance, and impeccable service.

This restaurant offers a larger variety of Cantonese dim sum dishes than other smaller restaurants in the area offering dim sum. Good thing for someone trying dim sum for the first time, having more dishes to try. The taste of dishes that we tried were all very good, with the exception of soup dumplings. The skin was a bit tough and not a lot of soup inside the soup dumpling. The pork and shrimp shumai 🦐, lobster noodles 🦞, steamed rice flour rolls with shrimp (very velvety) were especially good. The roasted duck buns were good but it is not true Peking duck quality as the skin is not that crispy.

Was here for a wedding. Great experience and great food...poor service I've been here for dim sum and the dim sum is good but the service is just average at best

Great place to take a family. I’ve been going here for 20 years, the food is always excellent. They have always provided great service. Today they were also very accommodating. We had 4 generations of family getting together, they let us eat, sit, talk and relax for hours. I never felt like I was unwanted there. Food was delicious. We had sesame chicken, sweet and sour shrimp, beef and broccoli, and more. Wonderful meal and a great afternoon/evening.

I did not actually eat here. I did a pickup but I can say I enjoy the vegetable egg rolls. It was very crispy and delicious. I will come back and get it again.

Tried this place as a new visit. The wait staff VERY VERY nice and accommodating. I ordered carry out. The food was very good, light bodied, not heavy, the spices blended very evenly. I'll continue coming here.

What a pleasant surprise! I found that Chinatown's parking lot was all filled and ran into this place which has its own free parking space and dim sum. So I gave this place a try! Kaboom! Better than Minghin in terms of portion and taste. Also there's pork blood which is hard to find but is great. It may not be in the best location and it is not so visible in Chinatown but this place is worth a try!

The food was pretty good; the only bad part was that they all had too much salt. great atmosphere and service

This place is great. Friendly staff, amazing food and it's reasonably priced. I would recommend stopping by and giving this place a try. Also has plenty of space for whatever size group.

I came here for a wedding. Free parking in the lot as well as free street parking. Just make sure you don’t see any restrictions on the street. Service was good. Food was pretty decent. I really liked the roast pork belly, honey bbq pork, peking pork chop, and fried tofu. Prices are average. Generous portions.

We were here for a banquet dinner. The food was delicious. My only question was why such a big restaurant uses teabags in their teas rather than actual tea leaves. I assumed it was because we were a huge banquet dinner reservation. Anyhow, the food was good and the servers were friendly. Very spacious.

Came for Sunday dim sum around 11:30. Place is not crowded, parking is available, more in a separate small lot. Dim sum and dishes were served quickly, all well prepared. Place is clean and newly renovated.

One of the few restaurant that you can park for free, with food tasting great, I'm really good service even though when it's packed. You can tell that they are trying to really hard to keep up with customers. I heard one of the customer service at the front desk says I'm dying here so many people. They are good!

The food is amazing here!! The waiters were very attentive and polite. I had the best experience today. You can see that cleanliness is a priority. Best place for dim sum.

Im a bit antisocial and love when I can get good food and service without a crowd. Coming here mid day for dim sum is always a treat. Everything on the menu is super tasty and the service is always on point. Im not sure if she is the owner or a manager but the woman who runs the floor is incredibly nice and welcoming. This is one of my favorite spots in the city and we will keep coming back.
