My wife and I were thinking about a place for dinner one evening and did not know what do do. It was nice out so we knew we wanted something within walking distance. We saw La Fonda on Yelp recently and a friend high recommended it us. So we decided to give it a try.
We walked in and we were seated right away. The staff was extremely friendly and constantly refilling our water glasses. We ordered the food and when it came out it looked and smelled delicious. After our first bite, my wife and I both knew we just found our new favorite place in Chicago. I do not think you can go wrong with anything on the menu and the prices are very reasonable. And their cocktails are also amazing.
Before we even got up from the table, I already told my wife I can not wait to come back. Highly recommended place in Chicago. I know we will visit it many more times!

Owner is usually there and always very pleasant as are the servers. Very pleasant menu and the foods are good. Have been here many times. Evening free parking next door in bank lot. Last night had a very tasty, not spicy, fish stew/soup. Comes with plantains, salad and white rice.

We joke that we have to keep coming here until we found something on the menu we don't like. Seriously one of my very favorite restaurants of all time. I'm picky with beef and always love it here. We have only been able to order dessert once and it was delicious. This is great for a casual date, meeting friends or with your family.

I saw La Fonda on Seated and decided to check it out. I went with one other person. We both ordered a margarita, empanada, and the chicken with Spanish rice and plantains that also came with guacamole! Everything was AMAZING! We will be going back. Also their chips and salsa were delicious and served right away with our meal. They had two types of salsa and the red one was a bit sweet which I liked. Would highly recommend.

This is the most authentic Colombian restaurant in Chicago. I highly recommend their weekdays buffet, really affordable and genuine Colombian taste. If you want to know what Colombian food taste like go there Tuesday to Friday between 11 am and 3 pm. Excellent service and a great opportunity to practice your Spanish if you're a second language speaker.

Good. I voted this place down 'cause I probably won't make a point to go back. But the food was comforting and well cooked. Mangorita wasn't as great as it sounded - turns out maybe mango doesn't belong in a margarita. Deep fried pork rind was very impressive. Consistency and flavor of the flan was off. Bathroom is nice though - extremely clean, with motion-sensor sink and soap controls!
