This place is a gem! The food is (chef's kiss), is phenomenal. The staff and especially the owner, great people. So much more on the menu I want to try. Beer selection absolutely goes well with everything I've had so far.
So long as the place is there, it's going on my permanent recommendation list for German cuisine in Chicago.

If you're looking for an authentic German dining experience, look no further than Laschet's Inn. From the moment you walk through the door, you're transported to the heart of Bavaria, with the cozy atmosphere and traditional decor setting the scene perfectly.
But what really sets this restaurant apart are the incredible dishes they serve. The pork knuckle is an absolute must-try, and it's easy to see why it's one of Germany's most beloved dishes. The meat is succulent and tender, falling off the bone with every bite. The skin is crispy and packed full of flavor, and it's all served with a generous helping of sauerkraut and mashed potatoes, making for a truly satisfying meal.
And let's not forget about the Bavarian pretzels, which are equally impressive. They're soft and doughy on the inside, with a perfectly baked exterior that's salty and delicious. Served warm with a side of sweet mustard, they're the perfect accompaniment to any meal.
Overall, Laschet's Inn is a must-visit for anyone looking for an authentic taste of Germany. The pork knuckle and Bavarian pretzels are both absolute standouts, and the rest of the menu is equally impressive. With friendly service, a cozy atmosphere, and incredible food, you won't be disappointed. Five stars all around!

Such delicious and authentic German food - this place has so many options and really lovely specials! Try the Chicken Paprikash! The spatezel is incredible too. If Chicken Noodle Soup is the soup of the day, you’re in luck!
We tried it for the first time and then immediately brought friends and family back with us in the same week.
The entire feel of this place is great and the staff is friendly. I appreciated that they had a Lenten menu as it made it easy to take guests here as well.

Food here is unreal! Best roasted duck I have for a long time. Seasoning on the skin is perfect. Liver soup is so light, so delicate. Soup broth is unreal. Great beer, great service, no stupid staff support charge like most restaurants this day. The price is so cheap too. A la carte get dessert drink after. I love this place

The pork shank (Saturday special) probably has the best crispy pork skin I've ever had. Everything was delicious, but the pork was a standout.
Servings are huge. We had leftovers for 2-3 more meals.
Friendly service and a shot of schnapps to end the meal make this a really inviting and enjoyable meal. Definitely going back.

Delicious German food and beer! This cozy restaurant has warm décor and comfortable lighting inside. There is a nice mix of patrons at the bar and others eating dinner. The spätzle and mushroom goulash were excellent. We also highly recommend the chicken schnitzel dinner. If you are a fan of German beer, you'll have no shortage of great options here as well. Be prepared to be very full at the end of your meal!

One of my favorite restaurants to indulge. Great atmosphere with German posters/flags. Servers have always been great. Favorite menu items: portobello mushroom appetizer, Celebrator Doppelboch beer, Rouladen, chicken schnitzel, sausage dinners.

My VERY German husband loves this VERY German place. He always exclaims that Laschet's is the closest to a good old-fashioned home-cooked German meal that he's ever had in the US. Talk about a resounding seal of approval! I love the bratwurst dinner plates and the giant pretzel (ONLY when served with Obatzda [Bavarian cheese] -- that's the law!). The beer selection is extensive, and you will absolutely find some of the classics here. If you want an authentic German/Bavarian experience, this is your place! Sehr lecker!

Arguably the best German food in town, and second best duck I've had. Price included a beer, dessert, and tip.
I will keep going back.

Great German restaurant. All the classics. Food was good and well priced with generous portions, beer selection was nice but way overpriced. Service was attentive and the restaurant is cozy.

The food was amazing, very authentic. The place was a very fun experience. Their split pea soup was the best and I loved their chicken schnitzel. Both the waiter and customers were great to talk to. Highly recommend to anyone looking for authentic German food and some good beer.

Laschet's has a cozy neighborhood bar vibe, with amazing authentic german eats. The staff is quick and courteous, and the food came out hot and phenomenally well made. We started with the large Bavarian pretzel and cheese. I do wish the cheese was a little easier to dip/spread but it was good either way, kind of reminded me of those almond cheese balls. For the main course, I got the half chicken schnitzel with roast potatoes, red cabbage, and goulash on the side (well worth the upcharge) and my partner got the frikadellen with potato salad and 3 bean salad (which included pineapples, an unexpectedly good combination of beans, vinegar, and pineapple that you'll have to try yourself rather than believe me.) Our dinners came with a complimentary cherry-peach schnapps and we also got the hot cider with cinnamon sticks inside. All in all, worth the trip and I can highly recommend it to anyone who wants to grab a taste of German cuisine.

The history of every good time ever had within this establishment is palpable immediately upon entering. Brought my girl in for dinner tonight. It was our first time, and certainly won’t be our last. Get the potato pancakes, cheese spaetzel, chicken schnitzel, and apple strudel. And say hi to Vincent the bartender. He has excellent beer recommendations.
