Good pastries with some staples and some specialized. Coffee is good and if you're looking for a really nice custom cake this is the place to go.
However I'm knocking this to four stars as is gone downhill over the years. I'm not sure if they've lost business or there's been a change in ownership, but they've lost two of their three storefronts and their variety isn't what it used it be.
There's no longer any seating, so if you're looking for a place to work remotely or read while enjoying your coffee - this isn't it. And even then if you're thinking of making this your daily coffee/croissant there's a lot of other options that are just as good, if not better.
Still, this is worth going to, especially if you're looking to get a custom cake.

Our wedding cake was amazing. Words can’t describe how beautiful they made it. Not only was it a site to see but the red velvet we went with was to die for! Highly recommend them

My husband and I ordered a vanilla cake with ganache filling and white Italian meringue buttercream for our October 2023 wedding. It was absolutely delicious and beautiful decorated as requested! Many of our guests complimented the cake saying it was the best wedding cake they have ever had.

This bakery has been here for over 100 years. They are definitely doing something right. Great pastries, cookies and cakes. After 7pm the store is half off. Their cakes are decorated so cute! On the pricey end but worth it. Fresh and tasty. Also the store has a very relaxing let's eat cookies and walk around town vibe.

We used Alliance Bakery for our wedding cake! We actually had 2 cakes- a bride's and a groom's. Stacy was great to work with! There was a lot of back and forth on size, tiers, flavors, etc, but she was patient as I slowly made up my mind. The tasting here was the yummiest out of the approx 4 bakeries we tried. I had been told by another bakery that it is standard to have a faux cutting cake with sheet cake in the back. This was not my preference and thankfully Alliance said their standard is to make the entire cake real! Everything turned out just the way we wanted!

This bakery has some of the best oatmeal raisin cookie I've ever had. It has nuts in it too. So if you have allergies...make sure it's just oatmeal raisin. Sorry couldn't get a picture...I pretty much snorted that cookie. 🤷🏿 😂😂😂 I got pics of the themed cookies though. The BHM one was dope! If I'm in Wicker Park again... definitely coming back!

My mom loved her cake! I was extremely busy during the times I scheduled to drop off flowers and pick up the cake but the staff were courteous enough to call me, and extend the time to bring the flowers and hold the cake until the next day. The cake itself looked pretty and tasted good. Everyone at the gathering enjoyed it.

I contacted Alliance Bakery 4 days before a surprise birthday lunch to create a cake. They were able to accommodate my requests and the end-result was gorgeous but most of all, it was the most delicious cake I've ever tasted! The flavors were: vanilla cake with lemon curd filling and raspberry rose buttercream filling, with Italian buttercream frosting. This will be my new "go-to" bakery, do not hesitate to order from here!

We were celebrating the release of my girlfriend's book, so I reached out to Alliance for a cake and sent over the book cover for inspiration. I thought the cake would just be the same color as the cover or screen-printed on — instead I got an incredible recreation of the entire cover in cake form! They were so creative and added all these thoughtful touches (like a 3D fondant pen!) that made the release party wonderfully special. Plus, it was delicious. Getting the quote was easy — I did all online, it was super transparent and easy to understand, and they got back to me in a timely fashion. Can't say enough good things about Alliance! 10/10 from start to finish

I ordered my son's birthday cake from Alliance Bakery. He's obsessed with deep sea creatures and wanted an anglerfish cake. After some emails back and forth, we settled on a design, and I couldn't have been happier. I am just amazed at the quality of their work. My son was so excited and guests were absolutely amazed. Every detail was considered (even the inside of the anglerfish's mouth!). Fantastic! Thank you!

I've had a lot of wonderful treats from Alliance over the years, but only recently ordered my first custom cake from them. I ordered a cake for my mother's birthday and was so happy with how it turned out. Visually, it was so dainty and sweet. The flower design was really pretty and well done. I ordered a banana cake with salted caramel filling and Italian buttercream frosting. It was so *@&#^$ good. I have family members who don't normally care for cake that loved it and actually ate whole entire pieces. :) It was honestly one of the best cakes I've ever had. 6 stars.

This review is lonnngggggggg overdue. Alliance Bakery is an enchanting spot that happens to be placed right here in Chicago. I stumbled upon this place in early March 2021 while searching for a custom Among US cake for my daughter and they did not disappoint. The cake was beyond my expectations and more. The flavor was absolutely delicious and everyone wanted more!!! The cake blew everyone away and my daughter loved her cake sooooooooo much. We had the most amazing experience and it was all due to the cake, because it brought it all together. I will definitely order from Alliance Bakery again for her next custom cake.
I have also tried almost all of their brilliant and gorgeously made desserts. The staff there are just so lovely and I appreciate all the love they put into their desserts. I HIGHLY recommend everyone visit!!!!

Oh my gosh SUCH a cute place. the girl at the counter was super nice and helped us find some goodies we would like. there is some serious talent here! the sugar cookies all had insane frosting designs.
im honestly not a sweets fan at all, so i didnt get anything but my s/o said the chocolate croissant was super yummy.
we got macaroons as well, which i have never tried. so, i asked what was recommended. she recommended blue berry, so thats what i got! i also had the coconut lime.
i gotta say, these are my new favorite desserts!! i wasnt sure what to expect, but they were the tastiest little things ever!!
make sure to pick up a bunch of Macaroons and check out all the insanely cool cakes out front!!

Stacy and Alliance Bakery were such an incredible part of our wedding day - if you're looking for dessert for any occasion, they should be your first stop.
Not only was our wedding cake beautiful and delicious, Stacy helped me through an eleventh hour panic, reducing the size of my cake and supplementing with a variety of additional desserts, helping me to avoid surprise catering fees as well as accommodate a variety of guest allergies (gluten free, dairy free, etc.).
She and the bakery were exceptional to work with, and provided truly wonderful desserts for our wedding - we cannot recommend them enough. For your elaborately designed cakes to your everyday desserts, Alliance has your covered with customer service that cannot be beat.

Very nice little quaint bakery. Great selection of cupcakes, cookies, bars, and much more! Selection is constantly changing based on the season - you won't see the same thing twice. A must-visit for a nice breakfast treat or mid-day snack. Highly recommend.

We used Alliance Bakery for our wedding and can’t recommend them enough! We worked with Celina at our tasting to not only to sample the flavors but also create the design and size of our cake for 150 people, which turned out beautifully and so delicious (we went with 3 layers of chocolate, vanilla and chocolate iced with buttercream in each of our 3 tiers). She tied the look of the cake to our wedding decor so well!
Then, Peter helped us coordinate the day-of delivery and also worked with our florist to top the cake. 10/10 would eat here again and recommend them for big events! :)

Went for the first time yesterday after walking by a thousand times. It was perfect. The staff member was welcoming, and let me take time to look when I said it was my first time in. He was helpful and very courteous. The desserts were perfection! I can't wait to go again! Tirimasu is my favorite dessert, this was everything I wanted. The mousse was stunning and I'm still thinking about it.
