Food was pretty tasty and at a good value. The burgers all have 2 patties. The shake was phenomenal. I mixed all 3 flavors: chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. It was so smooth and didn't feel heavy.
It was really hard to find a place to sit. There is a super limited first come seating area, and people tend to take up whole tables for smaller parties. It's easier to take out if you have a larger group.
The staff are all very positive and up beat. They forgot to give me fries, and we're very helpful in making it right, with a great attitude.

First time visiting this location, but I've visited others. To begin with, the service is great because they're friendly and helpful. Also, we ordered at the counter and it took about 5 minutes to get our food. Lastly, the burgers have a juicy flavor and the toppings compliment the burger. The fries are average. Overall, I recommend getting a burger from this location.

Fast, easy and delicious! When it comes to ordering, so easy. When it comes to getting your food, so fast. When it comes to eating that burger and fries, so delicious! Neighborhood go to for a burger…but don’t leave without getting the chocolate shake!

5 stars only for the food. Best burger and fries in Chicago. Way overly priced but the best burger I have ever had. They have very few tables for outdoor dining and the location does not have a roof to protect during rain/hot weather, which is really uncomfortable. 0 stars for service and atmosphere, they force you to pay for the tip even though there is no service provided (You’ve to pickup your order and clean your table). Management is utterly cheap, high price burger, with no proper seating and forcing patrons to pay for tip. I won’t stop by this location ever. I paid $45 for 2 plant based burger and fries.

Very cool spot nestled in the back of an alley between buildings in old town. The burger was so tender, something about the meat had a perfect bite and chew. I wasn’t totally in on the flavor, nothing wrong just a little plain. The onion topping sauce was really tangy and I liked that a lot. The Sprecher root beer was phenomenal, the taste of honey as sweetener blew me away.

If you are getting hungry while you are waiting for the rain to stop, this is the place. The burgers are so tasty, I had to eat another one (actually I ate 2 cheeseburgers (double)). There might be others with a better interior but who cares. More of a student joint. We loved it.

Great place to grab a burger and fries. Staff are very friendly and helpful. My only gripe would be that prices are a bit high including charging for lettuce and tomato. I understood the charge for bacon but not those two. Quality of the food is excellent. Burger was very tasty and cooked nicely, fries were hot and very crispy. The s'mores shake was very good as well. Overall great experience and would stop by again.

Great burgers!! Yes that’s all they have!! I arrived in Chicago STARVING and this place saved the day. I had the cheeseburger with bacon, lettuce and tomato, fries and a strawberry shake. The shake was super thick and rich and had strawberry pieces inside. The only reason it’s not a 5-star rating is because of the price… I spent $33 😭.

They have a plant based burger - it was very good! Fries were excellent. Seating is outside with heaters available if needed. Take out may be the best option if it gets crowded. So definitely come back and try a shake. Employees were so lovely and friendly. The food did not take long at all.

Been waiting to come here for awhile now - and this place lives up to the hype. we ordered and got our food within 5 minutes at most. it’s all outdoor seating but there is tons of shade and covering. the burgers themselves have 2 thin crispy burger pattie’s and the house style is the way to go (though i wish they put more pickles). i love the fries too. if you like real thin crispy fries (think the chain freddy’s but fresh). their menu is pretty limited but i know this is the smaller cheval restaurant. for what they do, they do it quick, delicious, with good portions and a smile. a great place for a quick, affordable bite.

I can see why the hype about this burger joint, It was definitely delicious and the burger was super juicy. A little bit expensive for my taste but I get it, it's a new trend in chicago for this kind of burger joint and we are all here for it I guess now.

A classic burger in Old Town. Not as good as the original, but it still hits the spot, and well might I add. The bacon, tomato, and lettuce are extra, but if you aren't getting at least the bacon, you're missing out on the experience. Try the milkshake while you're at it - an actual thick milkshake!

As a San Diegan, Cheval burger is on par with In N Out and an argument could be made it's better. Ate here twice on a recent visit, loved the cheeseburger and choice of beers. Fries definitely better than most.

Best burger I’ve ever had going back for more today , amazing fires and the garlic aioli is amazing so happy I found this place burger is so soft but crispy everything is just perfect they are so fast and delicious

Yes. Yes. Yes. This is the best place for a very delicious quick burger and fries. They do serve alcohol, too. Only outdoor seating fyi. I've had it delivered several times too and it's great.
My husband has Celiac and he has eaten here several times without issue or cross contamination. They have gluten free buns and lettuce wraps and GF fries.

Very good burger! The fries are very thin and not all that special which gives it -1 star. Food is ready pretty quickly though. Plenty of outdoor seating but can get filled up pretty quickly. They give Sir Kensington Ketchup which is great because it doesn't have high fructose corn syrup. Garlic Aioli is also very tasty.

great spot we found on the go, the burgers were really tasty and a beer to pair on a hot day was just the cherry on top of our lunch meal. the outdoor seating is quaint and the staff works very fast (and are very friendly!) to get your food to you so the wait isn't too bad. would return as i will be thinking about the burger on the way home...
