Harolds Chicken Shack has AWESOMELY GREAT CHICKEN! Perfectly cooked with a nice crisp, great flavor (not spicy, you sauce it as you wish), not salty, just really good! Onion rings are great too. Breaded type not the beer battered things. Service was friendly and quick - but did I mention that their Chicken tastes great? Oh indeed! Best fried chicken around.

First time trying Harold's and the food was okay. The chicken was fried just right but could have used a little more seasoning. The sauce complimented the chicken well. The spicy reminds me more of hot sauce. The fries were fresh. The Mac and cheese was okay. And the lemonade was too good.. The customer service was excellent which is always a plus. Overall I would come back again when I am in the area.

First time trying Harold’s. As a kid from the suburbs who’s finally moved to the city I had to try it. I had the chicken sandwich and it was actually really decent. The chickens crispy and juicy and it’s a decent size portion. I honestly would just need it to be more spicy. I thought I had ordered it spicy but I suppose I didn’t I’m not sure. Be weary of the wait times. People were getting their wings orders faster then I was getting my sandwich!

Got 5 wings with mild sauce. It came with fries and a toast. Wings were delicious, tasted and smelled like KFC outside the US. I'm a bit confused by the mild sauce that everybody raves about though, because it kinda just tasted ketchupy to me. The wings were delicious regardless.

Really good chicken with a spice to it. Always made fresh and to order and get the lemonade on the side it makes it that much better to order. Love overall the food and when coming back to Chicago will surely order again.

I had a great experience. I realize people are human and make mistakes so I never have exceedingly high expectations for anywhere. However, the food was great. I’ve been to a multitude of Harold’s around chicago and I’ve been to this one multiple times and never had an issue. The chicken dinners with mild sauce and lemon pepper is the best thing on the menu in my opinion and it never fails! Also the strawberry lemonade is the best I’ve ever had!

Stopped here after leaving the Taste of Chicago due to overcrowding. This place had a line outside the door but the staff did great processing orders. The chicken was delivered hot and the fries were some of the best I’ve had. I also had mine with the bbq sauce which was a delicious dip for my fries.

The food was delicious! It was definitely worth it. The chicken was fried perfectly. I really enjoyed the collard greens. The red velvet cake hit the spot at the end. There is metered parking and it’s safe. The workers were friendly and efficient. There was not a long wait time.

The fried chicken was a little dry and missing just a bit of salt, the waffles were good. The macaroni with cheese and chicken was the best I have had in a restaurant. Absolutely top notch service.

They're good but I don't really like the fact they deliberately pour the sauce on the fries. Sauce gets soaked on fries and dries them out and ruins the integrity of the fry by the time they're consumed. I don't mind sauce in the fries but having a choice would be way much more pleasant. Place is a little expensive too but doesn't break the bank.

Houston just got Harold’s Chicken however, I wanted to try where it originated (in Chicago) so that I can compare the 2. The chicken is well seasoned and fresh but the famous “mild sauce” was sub-par. The lemonade was good and not over sweet. We got the 5 piece combo which came with fries. 4/5 because of the sauce and the average but GOOD chicken. I would eat here again but not a priority chicken spot for me.

I am a Chicago passerby, with a few hour delay on my train trip. I stopped in on my last trip through and this place was recommended. I will give Harolds the credit it rightly deserves.
Service: excellent, courteous and welcoming.
Food: delicious, well seasoned, cripy as I got the four piece wing and shrimp combo! Ample size shrimp, chicken and portion of fries, which were also crispy and well seasoned. I also got a strawberry lemonade with was nice, kinda taste like a syrup additive, not fresh puree in the lemonade, still good though. You won't hear me complain.
Cleanliness: it was ok, nothing exceptional for a fast food joint. Clean, not too busy, nothing over the top..warm, comfy clean spot.
I was pleased with this local fav, I will def recommended and stop by on my next train trip through chicago. Its worth a try for anyone passing through.

First experience for me here. We took the chicken tender and waffles as well as the Mac and cheese. The chicken was good, but a bit dry inside as well as the waffle. However, the Mac and cheese was great!

The food tasted good and the service was quick. The only downside was that the restaurant smelled like cigarettes. We ended up taking our food back to the hotel. But other than that the food was actually not bad.
