I was in Chicago visiting from Alabama. Wonderful customer service. They took our last minute reservation 30 minutes before arrival for eight people and had the table set very nicely and greeted us with a warm welcome upon our arrival. This place had the best pancakes that I've ever had in my life. The only thing that I would not recommend is the grits they just need to be cooked longer and more cheese and a pinch of salt but everything else was wonderful from the Good customer service, wonderful food and historical interior design. It makes you feel as if you're in your grandmother's kitchen. The owner also came over to greet us and introduce herself which was also very polite and welcome us to come back again!
Thank you again we will definitely be back.

Amazing spot for breakfast. Cozy atmosphere as if you were eating at grandma's house. Service was top notch and the food was even better. Had the Sweet Maple-opolis and the cinnamon pancakes. Both were amazing. Definitely recommend breakfast.

Listen, you HAVE to come here on a Friday morning for their catfish and eggs breakfast. So worth it! If you come here on any given day, you can expect great food, friendly service, and a cozy atmosphere, but if you come here on a Friday you get it with catfish! I can't wait to go back. The grits are also great with this meal. If you order cinnamon roll pancakes, you won't be able to eat regular cinnamon rolls again. SO GOOD!

Sweet Maple Cafe is a good place to get an early breakfast. They open at 7 am and close at 130 pm. They have good hospitality. We had to wait for 20 minutes to be seated because it was every small inside and very popular. Then the food was good, but the service was ok. My wife didn't like her food at all. She had the slacker fries. It was basically a skillet.

We lucked up and found this place on a Friday while visiting for the weekend. After seeing everyone with the same dishes at their tables, we decided to follow the crowd and order the catfish and a short stack of cinnamon roll pancakes. The catfish meal is nothing to play with. The biscuits were some of the best biscuits we’ve ever had and the fresh lemonade with strawberry purée tasted like you were at someone’s home.
We will definitely be back to this Black owned business next time we’re in Chicago!

Sweet Maple Cafe has been on my To Go list for so long. I was excited to finally visit while in the area. I'm always looking for Black owned establishments to support.
It's a fairly small and intimate, yet comfortable setting indoors. The staff were all nice and accommodating, which was very helpful as I had a double stroller for my children. There's an accessible entrance on the side for wheelchairs & strollers.
The food was delicious with plenty to offer. We ordered a scramble & grits.
Outdoor seating is offered but it hadn't opened for the season by the time I visited.

My hubby wanted to take me to breakfast here for my birthday yesterday morning and I'm so glad he did! The food here is delicious and very reasonably priced. This is a lovely cozy spot for breakfast. Absolutely get the fresh made lemonade and the apple spice pancakes with sausage patties. So good!

Beautiful little breakfast at Sweet Maple Café in Little Italy.
We started off with a feta and veggie omelet with potatoes, country scrambled eggs loaded with meat/veggies/cheese, but the king of the meal was their cinnamon bun pancakes 🥞 These babies just melted in your mouth and were great with cream cheese icing. Definitely give this local business a try if you have the chance!

Cute little cafe in little Italy!
Had a lovely brunch with my friend.
They made a great egg-whiye veggie omelet however the star of our meal was the salmon cakes with roasted red pepper and potatoes with toast and 2 poached eggs.
A remarkable note was the drinks, 1. Bottomless coffee, and uniquely 2. A peach syrup latte. Quite a delightful surprise.

What a gem! Sweet Maple Cafe is family owned. We had a wonderful time chatting with the lovely owner and her son. Everyone who served us at Sweet Maple made us feel like family. There was a short wait but it was worth it! The biscuits are incredible! I created my own omelet (tomato, mushroom, spinach, onions, and feta), and it was one of the best I’ve had! A delicious breakfast and special spot for a mom-daughter brunch.

The breakfast were amazing. You will not go wrong with the cinnamon swirl pancake. I tried it without the frosting and it was amazing. Yummy! Can't wait to go back. Great service too. It's an older looking restaurant aesthetically but when the food is yummy, who cares.

Enjoyed coming here. Wait staff was extremely friendly and the food was really good. The cinnamon roll pancakes were phenomenal, really cool twist on pancakes. The biscuits and gravy had a bit of a kick to them, wouldn’t get this if you’re sensitive to spice. Everything was very fairly priced, will definitely come back again!

Great restaurant run by such a sweet lady! The staff was super friendly and attentive. Lots to choose from but I want with the 3 cheese omelette with ham. No toast but had the special: cinnamon roll pancake! It was delicious and huge! If I was able to eat more carbs, this place would be a weekly treat!

Vintage restaurant vibe. Owner is so kind and she make sure to check with each table about food and experience. Servers are kind too. Love tacos and baked potatoes. Overall great restaurant , visited anytime and experience was always great.

We ordered the Country Scrambles. I got the Carmen G which came with bacon, spinach, mushrooms and cheese with home fries abd a biscuit. The meal was good bit I like my eggs softer and the biscuit wasn't bad but could have used more butter to help with the flavor.
My husband got The Toss Up Scramble with ham, chorizo, Chicken and spinach. He also got the Slacker Fries which are home fries with corned beef, onions and cheese and a cinnamon roll pancake which was excellent.
The service was great. Everyone was really nice.
The place is old so there is no ambiance but if you're looking for really good breakfast you won't be disappointed.

The Grits and pancakes are a delight. Popular for a reason. Can't go wrong with the choices on the menu. Just wish it wasn't so small of a dining space. Upside, you can do take-out ( unless they are too busy then website won't allow orders and they won't do it over phone)
