I love this place. I live in Missouri, where this infused beverage concept hasn't quite taken off like here. Every time i come into town, I make it a point to swing thru buzzed bakery. The best bakery in Chicago! I got the lemonade with a triple shot of f it, and it was heaven.

West Town Bakery was a fantastic cake vendor. Samantha, our pastry chef, was so accommodating from start to finish. Not only did she rise to the challenge of creating a whimsical wedding cake for me but the cake itself was also moist and delicious. My wedding was 2 weeks ago and I'm still getting compliments about how good the cake was. My husband and I plan to visit the bakery sometime to order another cake. Absolutely great service.

Great customer service. The best, most moist, crave worthy gluten free blueberry muffin I have ever had. I absolutely loved eating it. And will be dreaming of that muffin. Chai tea was tasty, no up-charge for soy milk is awesome.

Great staff! They are so helpful and make the experience welcoming. Best hot chocolate in town. Pastries are always delicious; from sweet to savory. Never disappointed when I go there. Always bring my guests who are visiting and they always enjoy West Town Bakery.

This place has a fun atmosphere with a decor made up of street art and record shop. Many delicious bakery goods here with donuts, croissants, scones, and much more. Lunch has many sandwiches available. Oh, the coffee! Many options available and it is all fantastic. If you are a Starbucks or Dunkin donuts person prepare to actually have a good cup of coffee.

We ordered cookies and cupcakes for the bosses birthday.
The cupcakes were about the right price, especially when compared with other local cupcakeries (is that a word?). However, they were a little smaller than the other ones. Regardless, we liked the flavors we chose. The cookies were like $2.75 a piece... kind of steep, but again, enjoyable.
If I can expense it, I'll be back. If not... I'll probably go to Beatrix where at least I can get loyalty points for their (similarly-priced) delicious baked goods.

Great service, great coffee, and a relaxed atmosphere. I don't get coffee often but when I do I'll make sure to come here rather than the big chains. Don't know the mans name behind the counter but he is super polite and friendly as well.
Unfortunately for some not having instantaneous gratification is a deal breaker. For those that need coffee immediately I'd suggest going to McDonald's. At the end if the day I can confidently say that some of these reviews reek of entitlement that is all too familiar for those like myself who have worked in customer service. But don't let them dissuade you from checking it out for yourself.

West Town Bakery is amazing! I've eaten breakfast here steadily for the past few months since starting work in Chicago. Among all of the bakeries/coffee shops I've tried (Intelligentsia included), I'd pick West Town Bakery. The ginger scones and blueberry lemon scones are out of this world!
I've also never had their cold brew, but was offered a sample this morning. It was very well-made.
Highly recommended to all passing through River North or the Chicago area!

My husband and I needed a quick bite as we just got into town. I had the lox sandwich which was outstanding. I really liked the flavor that the pickled onions added. My husband had the hot brown which he liked. It is far from a traditional hot brown since it was missing the gravy. (It was would have been better just to call it a turkey sandwich with pimento cheese because as a turkey sandwich it was outstanding.) We both agreed the iced coffee was waaaay too bitter. The service was prompt and polite.

I have passed by this place for almost a year. The neon sign for dark matter coffee got my attention. I was really impressed with the knowledge on coffee and the size of the sandwiches. I had the unicorn blood double shot and the egg and bacon croissant. It was incredible. They offered a sample of the house blend coffee. They staff was very friendly. My double shot and sandwich was around $11. Things could get expensive. It would be nice to see a punch card program for multiple sandwiches/coffee. I will definitely be coming back regardless.

I'm a major coffee snob. I'll admit it. I think the espresso and flat white's I make are the tittie sprinkles. And this little cafe's coffee blew me... away. <3'd it. We stayed at the Freehand Hotel next door. And tried this place in the morning. Worth going to.

West Town Bakery made our daughter's 1st Birthday Cake which was designed to look like a unicorn on just a few days notice on Labor Day weekend. We could not be happier with how it turned out! We're looking forward to ordering more cakes from them in the future.

I don't know about you, but I love coffee! ☕️ And the guys at Westtown know what's up when it comes to coffee. Oh, you like a nice pastry with your morning joe? Excellent! They have sweet croissants, savory scones, cake balls, cupcakes, Nutella Danishes (Yeah, that's right. Nutella all up in that Danish!) Mouth watering yet? I haven't even mentioned the DOUGHSSANTS! Don't know what a doughssant is? Well it's a beautiful piece of flaky heaven that is half croissant and half donut. It is huge and amazing and no you may NOT share mine! Get your own! Kidding, but seriously.. Go get one..
Unless pastries aren't your thing. In that case they have delicious sandwiches too. And the baristas are awesome. These guys give great customer service and always make you feel welcome. Seriously great coffee shop. Love love love it.
