Review Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria - Chicago

We had the Malnati sausage deep dish pizza, house salad and minestrone soup. It was delicious!! The soup was a little salty but still tasted good. The server was attentive and receptionist as well.

Lou Malnati's, a renowned pizza spot in Chicago, offers a solid dining experience that earns it a 4 out of 5 stars in my book. 🍕 The meatball pizza was a standout, showcasing flavorful meatballs that set it apart from the typical pizza fare. However, the overall atmosphere left me feeling like I was in a standard chain pizza joint rather than a uniquely Chicago experience. While I lack extensive knowledge about Chicago pizza, I'd likely recommend Lou Malnati's to fellow tourists. The service played a significant role in the positive rating, with warm welcomes from the hosts and attentive service throughout our meal. Despite a 50-minute wait for our pizza, which may be par for the course when ordering multiple pies, the service remained commendable. In summary, Lou Malnati's delivers on taste, particularly with its meatball pizza. While the ambiance may lack a distinctive local feel, the service compensates, making it a suitable choice, especially for those exploring Chicago for the first time. 🌆🍽️ #ChicagoEats

Our 2nd time coming to this place because the flavors do not disappoint!. We love the crunchy, crispy thin crust pizza as well as the toppings. I love the flavor of the tomato sauce used for the pizza and dipping sauce. The ranch is also delicious. I recommend the combination platter as a great appetizer option because it has a little bit of everything and the verity is delicious. They do offer alcoholic beverages but don’t have mixed drinks only beer, wine or cocktails in a can. We did not have to wait to be seated and all the staff were friendly and attentive. Our server was great as well. Parking is usually not hard to find but not free. Delicious food overall and nice time.

There was a bit of a wait, but it was worth it. Best deep dish pizza I’ve had. It’s touristy I’ve heard, but we really enjoyed it. Small pie was enough for 2 of us. When in Chicago, do the deep dish.

Great place. Was recommended to us so we can try authentic Chicago Pie and it did not desapointed. We took the bruschetta for appetizers and shared a small pie. It was more than enough food and it was excellent. The pie takes 45 min to an hour to be made so we were able to place our oder while we waited to get a table.

Chicago Deep Dish - yes! In town for the first time and read the reviews and we just had to do what the tourists do. Here is my review… Pizza was very tasty. We ordered the small Malnati classic and had a few pieces of the pizza pepperoni for one of our guests since she did not like sausage and we all decided to share. Crust was not saturated with sauce and the pizza was seasoned very well. It was very cheesy and served hot and fresh. We loved the Lou’s side of our pizza way better than the pepperoni. Took a while to cook as you would imagine. We would have loved a little bit more sauce on the pizza or sauce on the side that we could dip the crust and pizza in. You will get full fast! Seated quickly. Servers here were friendly. Pay and street parking available.

Fast, friendly service and great pizza! Had the Malnati Classic and will try the spinach one next time! Got the medium that serves 3 (6 slices total, 2 per person). Crust was buttery and crispy/soft in all the right places and the tomato sauce was tangy but not too thick or heavy.

The pizza was really good here. We got the classic deep dish and then a thin crust with pepperoni and sausage and jalapeños. The wings were really good as well. They also had cutwaters which was a bonus.

Lou lives up to the reputation. We had the salad and a small pizza, and it was actually way too much food for two people, but what an experience. This place is a must-do if you come to the Chicago South Loop area. I would recommend calling and putting your name on the wait list, and what we learned was that when you show up at the door, make sure to put your order in before you get seated. They call it the pre-order, and you do it once you show up at the door. The app works great and letting us know where we were in line and we only had to wait about an hour from the time that I called and got on the list to when we actually got the table. Even though we didn't pre-order our pizza, it wasn't bad about 30 minutes or so for the pizza, and during that time, we enjoyed the huge bowl of salad.

I'm giving this a 4 only because it's the only deep dish I tried and have nothing to compare to. That being said, I enjoyed my first deep dish immensely. I would like to come with friends again in the future, as this review will be based on my "personal deep dish pie" experience. Very good buttercrust, crispy borderline crunchy. The sausage was quite juicy, the mozzarella above it quite delicious with the right amount of pull. As a New Yorker I have trouble with the sauce on top, but when in Chicago... DO NOT TRY TO EAT THIS BY HAND. It is, quite honestly, not a pizza. A breadbowl, yes. A casserole, yes. A deep dish, yes. Not a pizza. A pizza would never try to hurt you by hiding scalding hot juices under the sauce, hidden carefully between the sausage and cheese, waiting to be unleased unknowingly onto your wrists when you bite into it while holding it. Learn from my mistake, use your knife and fork. This is not a pizza. Oh, and I had a salad before, trying to pretend I was healthy. Look at the pics, it was a salad. I barely remember it.

This place came highly recommended by family and friends and it did not disappoint. My first time having this style of pizza and I loved it. So much cheese, a tasty sauce with perfect tomatoes, and great sausage. The crust is absolutely craveable. Very good. I ate too much.

We were visiting and someone told to try their deep dish pizza so we went there. Veggie deep dish- the Lou and thin crust with olives and jalapeños were awesome! Garlic bread needed some cheese. Chilli flakes were really spicy and enjoyed it a lot!!

The Lou Malnati deep dish pizza is built on a butter crust cradling perfectly seasoned sausage meat, topped with tangy tomayo sauce and crusty cheese - perfect for the carnivore I am. However, the Lou, which is mostly spinach, spinach, slices of tomato and smothered with a variety of cheeses on a bed of garlicky butter crust is way delicious! The Malnati salad with blue cheese crumbles, salami bits, black olives, romaine lettuce, and mushroom is another stand out!

Very good pizza. I got personal size with chicken sausage, onions, peppers and mushrooms. Well done and with extra sauce. No problem getting a table around 3pm on Saturday. I liked better than Giordano’s where I got same thing. About $30 with tip for a six inch pizza. I think each topping is too expensive and all adds up.

Disclaimer: I do have a bias toward thin crust I decided to give Lou malnati a try when I’m at Chicago. Ordered the classic deep dish. The crust was buttery alright but I was definitely expecting something else along the line of a more flaky texture, instead the bottom of the crust tastes quite dense and overworked. Not my favorite cup of tea but definitely worth a try.

I have never tried Chicago-style pizza in Chicago. And I wanted to make that happen today. I ended up going to Lou's and having the personal pan, just made the original way, and I have zero complaints! I'm a Texas, I know food, I might not know pizza, but I know delicious! And this was delish!

Good bruschetta and nice staff! We weren't a fan of the chicago style pizza as it kinda flavorless surprisingly, but maybe that's just us.
