Solid donut shop in downtown Chicago. Fire cakes is a short walk off Michigan Avenue and serves up some elevated donut flavors alongside coffee. On my visit, none of the rotating specialty flavors really spoke to me (I was hoping for some of the ones I saw in reviews) so I opted for the popular plain glazed and old fashioned pistachio ones. Both were the right level of sweet / oily and tasted delicious.
The smell of coffee here also tempted me so I ordered a cold brew which paired nicely with my dessert. It was smooth and creamy and not too over roasted.
Service is fast and friendly and the decor here really catches your eye.

Difficult to choose only one or two donuts among all these flavours!
We had the naked buttermilk (which was excellent), Valrhona chocolate iced and vanilla iced. They were fresh made, not too sweet and too greasy!

Excellent donuts with different kind of flavors. I had the pistachio old fashioned and the cinnamon roll. Both were excellent and full of flavor. Service was fast and friendly and restaurant was small but clean and seemed to be carry out only. Definitely recommend if you're looking for something sweet.

This was definitely worth the 15 minute walk from our hotel. We read about their ice cream sandwich and right it might be too sweet. It was not! An extremely delicious treat! We had vanilla ice cream and hot fudge between two halves of a churro donut. Perfect combination!

Excellent freshly made Donuts!! I got the glazed plain and it was soft, fluffy, and sweet but not so sweet that it curls the toes. Friendly staff. Reasonable prices.

They told us Chicago had good donuts. Turns out they were right.
Firecakes in the downtown area was easily accessible and no long lines. We tried the pistachio old fashioned which was great, a regular old fashioned and an Apple fritter. The big pieces of apple in the Apple fritter were nice little surprises and def had my recommendation.
We grabbed a couple lattes as well which were just like a couple lattes. But we came for the donuts and they were great.

All I am going to say is go, go now! They are awesome! First time there and wow. They are also open until midnight or until they sell out. My favorite was the sprinkled donut.

I was craving for some sweets after work. Came here to for one donut but grabbed 2 insteadš¤£. I got the peanut butter and jelly & buttermilk old fashion. The buttermilk old fashion was delicious but that peanut butter and jelly was phenomenal. I will definitely come back and try different flavors.

I dropped by for dessert after dinner and was super happy with my donut. I got the pistachio donut, and it was excellent. The outside was pleasantly crisp and dry while the inside was still fresh cake. The toppings also gave a nice sweet flavor. The staff was very pleasant to interact with, and Iād definitely recommend this store to anyone in the area with a sweet tooth.

Love this place! You cant beat freshly made donuts (yes, they're made there š). Not only are there classic donuts delicious, but I love their monthly/seasonal releases. They never disappoint. Let's not mention how yummy their coffee is. I'm obsessed with their Mocha latte (& I absolutely miss their seasonal peppermint bark latte). This location is a small order/pick up shop, but they do have a small outdoor seating for when the weather permits. The staff here does a great job of taking care of customers. Totally stop by if you get the chance.

Amazing donuts but there is a limited selection for ice cream donuts. The shop is small and there is not much seating outside so you may have to take this to go.

This has become our go-to donut shop. The donuts are very good, large and fantastic flavors. Just sweet enough to hit the craving without being too sugary. The coffee, which is Sparrow coffee, is also great! We like the taste of the coffee so well, we even bought the beans to use at home.

These donuts are delectable. The naked donut, buttermilk and pistachio old fashion make up my favorites. The others are superb as well: triple chocolate crunch, amarena cherry cheesecake, vanilla, lemon, and the gluten free option.

I ordered the apple fritter, sour cream, chocolate covered and a caramel covered donut. All 4 were awesome! I highly suggest this place!
