Review Bang Bang Pie & Biscuits - Chicago

H.H.H
Line was long but understandable as there is not a lot of seating. Cozy spot that smelled amazing. Biscuits were so rich and delicious, only wish the portion was a little more for the price. Cranberry cheesecake was perfect.

We come here almost every Sunday like clockwork. We're from the south, so biscuits & gravy and grits are a really big comfort food for us, and they've nailed it. Recently, we've added the Chicago-Style home fries to the rotation, and they're delicious! Of course, you have to get a slice of pie, and there hasn't been a bad one yet. Get there early on the weekends if you want to avoid the lines and crowds, but it's still worth it regardless.

Best Pie Shop in the city! I’ve been wanting to try Bang Bang Pie & Biscuits for over 1 year now and finally made it in this weekend. I tried a biscuit and pie because, well, it’s in the name and how could I not?? Biscuits were light and fluffy with a delicious crispy top. I ordered mine with gravy, sausage, and egg which made for a complete breakfast. The pie was tangy, crumbly, and light. So many delicious flavors, summer berry colors, and textures. I should have ordered more than one slice! I arrived within an hour of opening on a Saturday morning and there was plenty of open seating both inside and out. The service was extremely fast and everyone was friendly and polite. I will be back very soon!!

Went with a few friends and tried different biscuits and pie slices. The Pacific Beach and hand pies were amazing, as were the BBQ chicken and sausage biscuits.

Banana cream pie every Wednesday is the real deal! Split the egg onto your biscuits and you’ll thank me! Everything here is made from scratch and they update the menu with every season. Please be warned that on beautiful days (good weather) that there may be a line which would lead to some menu items being 86. They have a beautiful backyard dining area but keep in mind that inside is pretty small. Dogs are allowed in the backyard. Parking is scarce so public transit, walking, or other means is recommended. The staff are just so lovely and have great recommendations when you’re stuck between 2 dishes. They always seem to have a smile, everyone is laughing and can be seen grooving to the music. All in all, a positive vibe with some amazing food. Honestly, if the food was mediocre (it isn’t! It’s so good) I would keep coming back here for the staff.

Favorite new breakfast place. I live in the south where we serve grits at any decent breakfast and let me tell you these are the best I've ever had. We got the fancy and the not-so-fancy and they're both life changing. Biscuit with pimento cheese and pepper jelly was a favorite also. Can't wait to come back and try the pie.

Honestly unsure of how I haven’t left a review until now as this is one of my favorite spots in Logan Square (and the city overall) and has been for the past four years. Super friendly staff, everything is so delicious and centered around fresh and local ingredients, and the artwork/branding is too cute! You can’t go wrong with any of the biscuits, grits, or pies you order! My go-to’s are usually the Farmer’s Biscuit or Bacon Biscuit but all are great! Lovely outdoor pie garden patio and a nice (yet smaller) interior which has a handful of tables and seats. Pro tip - go during the week to avoid the longer wait/lines!

Blueberry apricot pie was amazing, not too sweet. We got the sausage egg and bbq chicken biscuits which were good but I’d go back to try the quiche and more pie. Coffee wasn’t great but that’s not what you’re there for. Loved the patio and enjoyable even in a little rain since they have many umbrellas. Dogs are welcome too!

I ordered the following: -chicken pot pie : it's amazing!!! 🔥 -Berry Berry Pie: really good A+ (beware of sweetness!!) - Home Fries: they were okay w/ bacon & egg (would have liked them cooked a bit crispier) and they served it with a cold quiche egg=cold home fries. overall: good would recommend!

So grateful my boyfriend introduced me to this specific bang bang pie because not only is the decor and patio incredible, the staff were also super friendly, and food was so amazing! I recommend the chicken pot pie. It may look small but it is mighty! I was so full after one pie, i struggled getting through a biscuit (which is also amazingly good plain). Their butter is a fan favorite of mine because of a slight sweetness and perfect texture. All around wonderful place, will be frequenting it!

Absolutely the best brunch I've had in a long time, we came for a Za'atar pop-up and the food was phenomenal, a standout food experience in Logan Square.

A very cool and vibey place to grab an afternoon snack in the city. We had the key lime and it was delicious! I would say a top 10 pie place nationally. The flavors rotate and there were definitely some creative options on the menu. Space and seating inside is limited, so you should consider the weather before visiting.

This is purely a personal preference, but for me, the bottom crust was too thin. The coconut cream pie was amazing. Creamy Coconutty goodness. They even had flakes of coconut under the custard cream before the crust. I always just enjoy a thicker crust so I enjoyed it, but wished for more crust at the same time. My mom LOVED the chocolate cream pie. She LOVED the thin crust and kept saying she couldn’t eat more and finished half. The combo of the thicker chocolate cream with the Uber fluffy whipped cream on top was heavenly. — mini pies for the win!!! (Love this option) — The girl taking my order was so nice. Answered all my questions and made nice banter.

Everything was great (quiche and sausage sandwich) but the stand out was the goat cheese pumpkin cheesecake! The patio was also amazing and dog friendly.

Yum, yum and yum!! Worth the wait, time, energy and effort. We started with biscuits and ended with sweet pies. We had basic biscuits and gravy, loaded biscuits and gravy, chorizo biscuits, the sweet biscuit and some candied bacon. Wowza, delicious. Then we moved into key lime pie, blueberry buttermilk pie and honey pie. We topped everything off with coffee and iced tea. We enjoyed everything start to finish. You order at the counter and they bring you your food. Everyone was so friendly. It was a great experience. Did I say yum??!!! YUM!

Best breakfast I've ver had, and with a pie! This place looks super tiny, but with the large back patio, there's more than enough space to eat here. There was a line to order, but it moved quickly and there was still plenty of seats once I ordered. The home made biscuits are amazing. They are the crumbly style, not a flakey one. I don't usually think of pie for breakfast. But getting a slice of pie with my sandwich hit the spot! The sandwiches are a great take on the classic breakfast sandwiches. All of them are stacked with toppings and definitely a sit down kind of meal. The pie selection is also wonderful. Get here early because of how popular they are, they might sell out of the pie you want! The band bang brand hot sauce was also extremely tasty.

Super friendly service, lots of options for pie and even coffee to go with it. I went for the Key Lime and the Coconut Chai. The Key Lime was 🔥🔥 so damn good. Especially topped with the Vanilla Bean Whipped Cream. Everything homemade and yummy. Now I must say the Coconut Pie was a complete miss for me. It tasted like nothing at all. Not good, not bad, it was like eating whipped cream with a dash of cinnamon.

A 4.4 star rating. The chicken pot pie is excellent!! The ingredients of shredded chicken, peas, carrots and spices are comforting and filling. Also had the sausage biscuit with “poached” egg. The sage and ginger gave the sausage a nice zing to the fatty flavor, however, it was slightly tough on the chew. The biscuit was very nice but a bit dry for my taste, lacking a bit of moistness. Still thoroughly enjoyed the meal. It has been a while since ive been here, but its as good as i can recall!

I finally made it here over the weekend after missing out the last time I was in Chicago and oh boy, I love Bang Bang!! I got a slice of pie to go which was amazing and decided to go back to meet a friend there. The menu is very well constructed and the options on offer are super creative and appealing. I’ve heard that this place is always busy and I can definitely see why. My friend got the chicken pot pie and said it was great and the key lime was to-die-for :-)
This place is really charming (and smells incredible) and the staff were awesome - shout out to Trevor for being an absolute legend and the Neo-Futurists (something else you check out if you’re ever in Chicago!)

I have eaten here twice and was very pleased both times. Service was prompt and friendly, place has lots of dark wood.

Got the Italian beef sandwich. Beef cooked well and tender with side of au jus and hot gardinera. Roll was nice and held up to the beef. Came with house made chips. I will be back!

Every time I eat their pies I get a new taste treat. You know how some places you go back to the same dish visit after visit? Don't get caught in the rut here. Each time I've been I've tried something else and am never disappointed. But my favorite are the crisps and crumbles which I could eat all day. Try them all trade with your friends.

Biscuits are one of my all-time favorite foods so when I came across Bang Bang Pie & Biscuits on a list of top breakfast spots, I knew we had to go there while we were in Chicago. . Bang Bang Pie & Biscuits is located in Logan Square, a neighborhood northwest of the city. It is one of the most charming restaurants I have ever been to. Seating is limited and on a first come first serve basis. They do have picnic tables outside but luckily we were able to snag an inside table since it had been raining earlier and the outdoor seating was drenched.

walked into the store and boom! the aroma of all the pies and meat being cooked early in the morning. small place however....the sausage biscuit with egg and special lemon pie were amaaazzzzinnnngggg!! loved it! if only i lived in bucktown it would be my go to brunch spot erryday!
Terricooper
It's been a long time coming as we've tried to get downtown to try this for months. It was worth it!!!! Our first 5 rating. Cute place that is very cozy with old brick walls & big open windows. Staff super friendly & helpful.

We decided one sweet & one savory - so the more seasonal apple crisp and a sausage biscuit with egg. I believe desserts are the best place to start - always. The apples were cooked to perfection with a slight bite. I think a hint of rosewater ,and the crumble was extra crunchy without being overcooked.

The sausage - ahhhh the sausage. Some of the best seasoned sausage we've ever tasted with a spicy undertone. True confession - this southern girl loves biscuits and Popeyes is a guilty pleasure. The biscuits at bang bang would rival any southern kitchen. The biscuit center was moist & tender with a browned top - simply outstanding.

We will be back to try the other dozen plus offerings!!!

Love pie! Love bang bang pie's pie! They have a perfect mix of chocolate, fruity, and tart flavor pies. The back patio is awesome too. Love different door wall design. Plus.

This is the first (and perhaps the last) 5.0 I've ever given, so let me tell you why:

So yeah, the line is long... especially if you visit during peak hours on a weekend, which is precisely what we did. The Food Network was even filming an episode of "Sinful Sweets" that day (read: Chicago destination). However, these biscuit/pie gods have their system DOWN. The line goes surprisingly quick and their staff is as friendly as can be!

There's limited seating inside, but come here on a nice day and take advantage of their picnic-inspired back patio. It's one of the best in town.

We ordered an avocado biscuit + egg, biscuit & [vegetarian] gravy, cheese grits & a slice of raspberry/pear crumble pie. Those little paper bowls are deceiving... so much food! Both biscuits made me want to cry tears of glutton glee, and that pie...um, what? Raspberry and pear together with a CRUMBLE!? Just stop. OH, don't forget to grab an iced coffee - it's 'on draft' and perfect.

What to skip? The cheese grits... maybe I'm too judgmental as a Southerner, but they needed more cheese and seasoning. I'm willing to try their decked out grits, however. I have a feeling I'll be stuffing my face again very, very soon.

There are a few things that I can say I love with complete confidence. Pie and biscuits are on that list right below my wife Sam. What’s better than just regular pie and biscuits though? Eating them on a sweet patio. It just so happens that Bang Bang Pie Shop combines all these things in one space and they do it really well.

You may have seen Bang Bang’s pies on some dessert menus across the city. Unfortunately I can’t remember exactly where for the life of me, but I’ve always been way too full to take advantage. That led Sam and I here on an early Sunday afternoon. Once we stepped inside we were greeted by smells of peach cobbler and we knew we were in the right place. I ended up getting the sausage biscuit with an egg. Sam got the grits and we split the candied bacon and a slice of honey pie. There were so many good options though. I was so close to getting the pecan, but I have a feeling there will be a next time.

After ordering, seeing the patio or rather the Pie Garden, is pretty neat. Luckily for us it was a drizzly morning so it wasn’t nearly as crowded as it could have been. It’s a cool spot and it stacks up to patios like Honey Butter Fried Chicken and Parsons. A bit of effort went into the country theme with some old doors lining the fence along California.

As far as the food, the sausage biscuit was well worth it. I’d definitely recommend adding the egg on top. Breaking the yolk and letting it run adds that extra dimension, not to mention it makes for a good picture. It was kind of like one of those McDonald’s sausage biscuits except this one was better in every conceivable way. Sam got the grits and from what I tried I definitely liked them but the biscuit is where it’s at. And you can never go wrong with candied bacon, totally worth it getting a side of that.

All of that is good but it’s not the reason you came. You’re here for the Pie and I was pretty over the top about it. Ever have one of those moments where you eat something and it’s so good you can’t even say anything and you just kinda nod your head in approval/happiness? That was the honey pie. Like I said though, I really love pie, so I was a little biased.

Sam and I loved this place so we wouldn’t have any reservations recommending it. Did I mention we got iced tea too and the bill was about $30 before tip. Well worth it.

I've been wanting to check this place out for a while, and I finally got a chance today. Though I usually go for the more healthy choices when it comes to food, I couldn't be the only one to never try this place. Maybe it's because I got there when they first opened but it seemed a bit disorganized. However, the food was more than okay. Very flavorful and definitely filling. Not somewhere I would eat every week if I plan on staying healthy, yet a cheat day is always a necessary! The blueberry cobbler was super sweet, but very worth trying!

Come for the Biscuits & Gravy and stay for the pie. Get here early since they run of fast. Also, some items are only seasonal. Since I was a Kickstarter backer of Bang Bang Pie they created a "Todor" Pie which is Spinach and Feta Cheese.

Good for breakfast lunch and dinner. Savory pies and biscuits are wonderful and their sweet pies - by the slice or whole pie - are really great. I don't even like pie and I sit here writing this review, waiting for my full strawberry rhubarb pie. Their outdoor patio/yard is killer on a summer day or night. People who have been here always come back. And people who haven't, well you should come here.

Probably strange for us to come to a pie shop and skip the pie but they specialize in biscuits too! We weren't feeling anything sweet in the morning so we went with the sausage sandwich and the chicken thigh sandwich.

The sausage was unbelievably flavorful. We savored each bite and the flavor lingered long after, too. The biscuits on both were flaky and just right. I liked the jam component with it, added a nice balanced sweetness to the sandwich, and the poached egg was lovely.

The chicken sandwich, on the other hand, was way too spicy but it looked like the spice was just in powdery chunks on top. Not bad but not great.

We came here hoping for more savory pies but all they had was a tiny chicken pot pie for $9. It looked tasty but didn't seem like it would be worth the price. In hindsight, we probably should have skipped the chicken sandwich and gone with the pot pie instead? I would come back to try the sweet pies and hope that they add more savory ones!

Bang bang combines two of my favorite comfort foods - pie and biscuits. This Logan Square shop has a laid back vibe and al fresco seating with picnic tables and umbrellas in its backyard.

We couldn't decide between biscuits or pie, so we had both (it was brunch, after all)! I had the Biscuit with Gravy. This gravy was different from any other I've had before - it had an earthy flavor, full of herbs and spices. The biscuit itself was dense, soft, and almost gooey. My husband had the Bacon Biscuit with collard greens, egg, hot sauce and candied bacon. It was spicy and flavorful!

For our desserts, we shared a slice of the Honey Pie and the Mexican Chocolate Silk Pie. While the honey was tasty, it was too sweet for me. I definitely preferred the chocolate, but wished it had more spice. I'm excited to go back soon and try some summer pies, since bang bang's menu is seasonal and they're always showing their fresh, delicious looking pies on instagram.

Tips:

Definitely give the biscuits a try! It doesn’t sound like much in comparison to the tempting pie names, but it certainly does not disappoint!
This is a wonderful alternative to a coffee shop. Instead of a coffee, get a slice of pie =)
Don't get me wrong, the pie itself was good, but I could've definitely done without those marshmallows and would have rather preferred store bought jet puffed marshmallows in its place. Maybe it's just me, since I saw many others order the same pie, but I could not eat the marshmallows. By the end, I wish I had just ordered the key lime pie instead.

After trying the pies and biscuits at Bang Bang... I have come to the conclusion that they should rename their storefront "Bang Bang BISCUIT Shop." Honestly, they serve the BEST biscuits I have ever eaten and...
Fourfried.com
....the menu includes three breakfast sandwiches, one from each essential food group; bacon, ham and sausage. while you won't go wrong with any of them, we suggest the "fourfried method" of ordering and get all three...and pie.

Other than their famous plum pie (pictured in first photo), their chocolate pecan pie (above) is also a decadent hit. You can always guarantee that they will have a few good seasonal selections for you to drool over.
Bunny And Brandy's Brunchtime Blog
There is a very fine line between breakfast and dessert. It can be hard to distinguish a pastry meant for morning like a cheese danish or a chocolate muffin from an eclair or a devil's food cupcake (hint: if it has icing or frosting, its a dessert, but if it has a glaze, its breakfast) and when pancakes, waffles, or French toast start to take on flavors like red velvet, carrot cake, or strawberries and cream, that fine line becomes almost microscopic. Lovers of more savory foods may find this a line they dare not tread, but Brandy, whose sweet tooth has been known to lead her into burning buildings (it was to retrieve a pan of cinnamon rolls) will gladly tap dance over the line every morning. This may be what led to this week's rather unusual brunch choice, Bang Bang Pie Shop in Logan Square. Though not open on Sundays, Bang Bang Pie Shop does offer their wears on Saturday mornings, and Brandy was rather surprised to see the quaint little store front buzz
