This is one of my favorite spots to go after work or on a sunny weekend day. The food is better than decent, the beer tap selection is wide, and the patio is killer. When it's about 75 degrees outside on a sunny day, this is the place to be.
Great atmosphere and awesome food! Service can be a little slow sometimes, but the atmosphere is worth it! The buffalo chicken sandwich, arugula salad, and pimento cheese are all delicious. Their salsa is also my favorite salsa in town!
After doing a photo shoot at the old Courthouse in downtown Chattanooga, we simply walked across the street to Universal Joint Chattanooga. The first thing you notice about it is that it is in an old gas station. They have used the space beautifully. There is a large outside patio area, but it was too chilly on the day we were visiting, at least for us, there were several tables filled outside. We walked inside to find a sign informing us to seat ourselves. I love that because I can scope out the best lighting. We were able to grab a seat right be the window.
Cool place. Awesome atmosphere, fun things to do. Service is ok. I ordered some quesadillas once and they were good!! They do have trivia nights where you can win a gift card. They have corn hole boards and fire pits outside for the cold. It's a fun place. Only complaint: got charged $11 for a shot of Evan Williams that was supposed to be Jack Daniels!!! Seems to be a trend to intentionally overcharge. Other wise I like this place.
First time trying.. I took me and my boys out to eat and after driving around downtown chattanooga we stop at universal joint and it was very good. I had the brisket nacho all so tasty and my kids had the chicken tacos needed to say the place and food was amazing. We will go back.
I had the BAT (bacon, arugula, tomato) with pimento cheese. Delicious! Good beer on tap. Large outdoor seating area that is partially shaded. Good wait staff. Will make this a frequent stop.
This place is great. They have some of the best burgers in town, a good rotating draught, and friendly staff! We eat here all the time--can't help my BBQ brisket nachos cravings! :)
Just don't sit inside! Cool concept - gas station turned restaurant! I had a cheddar burger and it was really good! A little pricey for lunch $25 for 2 burgers/2 cokes but tasty! I loved that they didn't change the interior much. Chipped paint on the ceiling with the classic mint green floor. My only complaint was that we sat inside and our clothes acquired the smell of grease and motor oil. My suggestion is go....just sit at the outdoor tables!
Big screen TV's. Indoor and outdoor seating. Great ambiance. My wife and I came in Saturday night because the place has a very unique look to it. We were very pleased with the service. The waitress was very helpful and attentive. They have 20 beers on tap including a seasonal beer that I tried. Great choice! The food is excellent... Very fresh. I highly recommend the blackened tilapia soft tacos.
Great addition to the downtown!. I went around 6pm on a Thursday and it was not busy yet. The service was great and the nachos were awesome. They had a great beer selection. Exactly what I wanted since the Tavern is always busy. I sampled 2 of the burgers and they were certainly in the top 5 in town. I will certainly return and think despite some negative reviews this place will do really well.
