Loved the food, I had a super gyro, my mom had chicken souvlaki shishkabob sandwich and my husband had the mushroom cheeseburger on pita bread. Everything was excellent. All the meat was very tender. We went during lunch and they were busy but fast. We will be back. Everything was great!
Since moving to the Charlotte area from Philly this is the only place where we can find authentic Persian rice and Kabob Koubideh exactly the way we like it. Small but nice dining area and great takeout place too. Worth the 28 mile drive down from Davidson a couple times a month!
We have been here twice and have enjoyed the experience both times. Food was delicious, the staff friendly (seems to be family operated), and it was prepared quickly. The only thing I'd mention would be the decor could use updating. I know there are some bad reviews and I hate that those people had those bad experiences. But we've enjoyed it so far.
I work in the Ballantyne Medical Park and had been eyeing this place for a few months and finally decided to try it today. My gyro was SOOOOOOOOO delicious! The lamb was tender and flavorful, and the tzatziki sauce was wonderful! It seemed homemade but very tasty, and the lamb seemed to have been cooked just perfectly. I opted for the greek side salad instead of fries, which at first glance was very meager-looking. I saved it for later and once I did take a bite I wanted to put that greek vinaigrette on every head of lettuce I could find. Again I'm not big on "fanciness" of an eatery, I just want my food to be worth the time and money, and that's exactly what I got with Akropolis. I may have to make this a weekly lunch splurge. The only reason I didn't give five stars is because the baklava was so disappointing. It was like chewing honey-soaked cardboard. The bottom layer of filo as well as the filling layers were very tough to chew. Kind of reminded me of honeycomb.
