Ruddell's Smokehouse

These tacos were not what I expected but good nonetheless. I’m glad I finally tried this place, but they aren’t my favorite style of tacos. The line is long, but moves fast. The menu is simple but they do what they do great. The service is fast and efficient. The tacos are pricey, but one is pretty filling. I enjoy the little Apple salad situation on top of the tacos. It’s a nice balance of freshness and adds great texture. The smoked fish is served cold with a cold tortilla which throws me off. It’s better when drenched in hot sauce. Seating is limited, but it’s a quick meal. You can stand and eat a taco in a few quick bites.

Just ok. We’ve been coming to Cayucos for years. What a great little beach town! And with all that’s going on, why not support the local shops. $26 for a hat. Worth it if it helps the cause. $15 for 6 cookies across the street. Great, delicious. $6.50 for a single taco. We bought 7 to be supportive. And the smoked meat was good, we tried Ahi, Pork and chicken: all three were good. But dang. We ordered meat tacos, not salad tacos with a bit of meat?!? The taco should NOT be more than 60% lettuce and stuff. I’m Disappointed. Treat the customers to a delicious smoked (fill in the blank meat) taco. Or.....call the the place Smoked Salad Tacos!

The intensity and delicious sweet smokiness of the smoked albacore was almost meatlike. Very tasty taco, with a good amount of interesting salad (apple! celery!) rather than just limp lettuce as is often the case. Four stars because the taco could have done with more spice or seasoning. The prices are steep but the taco is quite big. Windswept beachfront location is glorious.
