We had a package through Congress Hall and had both dinner and breakfast at The Blue Pig. Dinner was good, breakfast was amazing. Fresh, made to order with a slight special request, hot, and certainly tasty. At dinner, all the staff was very attentive and our waiter Josh was amazing. Friendly, helpful, drinks were always full, dirty dishes picked up, good flow, etc. I’d definitely recommend it.
My family and I stayed at Congress Hall during the Christmas season and decided to try the Blue Pig Tavern. We came for breakfast and we all loved it! I recommend the Congressional plate! Everything was cooked to our liking! We enjoyed it so much, we came back for dinner the same night! Their burgers are phenomenal! Our server, Natasha was wonderful! We had her both times! She was very attentive, helpful, and delivered prompt service! Great place!
It being our first time in Cape May, it was recommended by a family member to try The Blue Pig Tavern. We stopped by for breakfast, and had an amazing meal. We had the Avocado Toast, Buttermilk Pancakes, a side of Hash Browns, Eggs Blackstone, and Healthy Start. Everything was freshly made.
The restaurant is located in a historic house that was well-preserved, spacious, well-lit, and clean. The staff was also friendly and accommodating.
Great meal on thursday in October. Table on the patio gave for a nice atmosphere. Short ribs and scallop dishes were top notch. Flavorful cocktails to supplement made for a fantastic meal.
Absolutely love the atmosphere of the Blue Pig, and the food was delicious!! A little pricey, but that comes with the territory, and I believe it well worth it. The staff members were so friendly, particularly our waitress who was visiting for the summer from Romania. And I must ask forgiveness because I was not able to resist "borrowing" one of your beautiful teal napkins as a keepsake. lol.. I will pay you for it if I can. I just could not resist temptation in the moment because (A) I love your restaurant and (B) it was in my color family. ;) It will be forever on display in my home.
We come to Cape May from the Brandywine Valley in Pennsylvania at least twice a year. Each visit includes a dinner reservation at the Blue Pig.
Every time we find the entrees and service to be superior which is what keeps us coming back.
But we have two concerns which are what I want to mention:
1) We always make reservations through Open Table and request our favorite seating areas. More often than not, the young girls at the host desk don't even read the requests and take us to a different area leaving us to have to repeat our request. In addition, twice we have received emails from Open Table informing us we were No Shows- once while we were on our appetizers. Luckily the desk resolved it. We know the newest, youngest and least trained employees are generally at the host desk, but please train them. It detracts from your otherwise stellar property.
2) This time the ceiling lights in the tavern were incredibly dim. They were showing orange. It was as if you hadn't paid the electric bill. The table next to us as well as my husband and I had our cellphone lights on to read the menu.
Then sadly when our beautiful entrees were served, we couldn't even see how the chef had placed and arranged the meal. This is an art in itself. Again, out came the cellphone lights. There are three two-top tables along the wall opposite the fireplace. They are incredibly dark.
We added pictures of our scallops and dessert. Even with the flash, they're dark.
I have never been able to give the Blue Pig 5 stars. The cuisine and service are incredible, but it's the details where they fail.
We chose to eat outside which was a perfect start! Blue pig martini was excellent. Food was even better. Shrimp scampi was new to the menu and it is fantastic! Will definitely put it on the list for places to go back to.
All I can say is The Blue Pig is just amazing. I’m a sucker for Pot Pies, this was the best one I’ve ever had… puff pastry crust and the inside was light, not thick like you think (think clam chowder consistency). My wife loved her chopped salad just the same!!!
Celebrating my husband's birthday. Service was slow and we were seated near two screaming toddlers obviously not the restaurant's fault. We took our dessert to go.
Couldn’t understand why the general rating of this place is so low! We ate here three times during our two night stay and were consistently blown away. Great portions, solid food, and delicious complimentary bread (they only serve it if you ask for it, though!)
The service was very knowledgeable and attentive. The food was delicious. Beautiful atmosphere. We will definitely return.
Good quality breakfast, serves Mimosas and Bloody Marys which makes the stay at the hotel feel much more like a vacation. I found the need for reservations for breakfast somewhat strange, perhaps when it gets busy it makes more sense. The first time we dinned they made it seem like babies in strollers are not allowed, but they are.
