Steak 'n Shake

It is absolutely the best hamburgers ever and steak shake is the best place to go ,period.

Like every fast food place they have removed some menu items or maybe when I went there they had a special or something. We don't go there very often, but it was good. I would go back. I got the bacon cheeseburger single with fries & a drink.

One young man deserves 5 stars and then some. I was there having burger with my father when I overheard an elderly couple behind me. The young man in this picture is a cook at Steak n Shake and I'd say he is maybe a 20 year old who came out from the kitchen. Steak n Shake has no servers now so it's all self check out. My dad and I were eating when I heard the young man talk to the elderly folks behind me. He explained about the kiosk and that there are no servers. Most kids would have said bye and left it at that. They asked him for help and said okay. I watched him stand there with them and work through their order for at least 15 minutes, excellent customer service. When my dad and I were leaving I handed the kid a sizeable tip. I said it's Christmas time and I watched you help these elderly people with expert patience and I just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to help the elderly, I know it's not your job. The kid was super happy and it was unexpected but sometimes I think it's important to show people you recognize their good deeds. He wasn't going to likely get a tip from them and with their new set up with no wait staff he probably doesn't get any tips, this was tip worthy. It made me think of my grandparents and so many other folks who are older and with new technology young people are often dismissive. I wrote a survey about this but I wanted to give a shout out to this young man if I hope Steak N' Shake gives him the recognition he deserves. I have spent over 20 years in management and it is very rare to have such a dedicated employee when nobody is watching. He had no idea that I heard everything and could see how long he was spending with these people. He did more then he had to do and that is hard to find today. I recognize this as 5 star service and it is worth taking the time to share this experience.
