Aarpan

Used to be fantastic, but under new management (sept'2014) it is a pale shadow of its former self. The food we got last time was oddly flavorless and without any delicate detail that used to be there. Sad. It was great to have a place like old Aarpan. I'm hoping maybe they will bring the old chef back.

This Indian food is amazing. They don't do anything different from the many Indian restaurants around (this isn't Junoon), they just do the classic Indian-American dishes really well. Importantly, they actually make their sauces fresh. Many Indian places in the US just use cans of sauce, like "Tikka Masala sauce," for instance, and add in the meat later. Not Aarpan. You sometimes have to wait a little longer, but it's always worth waiting for. Great.

Bleh. No thank you! It was a Sunday night, like so many before them. After a tiring night of laundry (stop laughing) the mood was lazy, so delivery was on tap. Why not try a new Indian place? We were tired of the old one. Seamless finds us Aarpan, but I wish it hadn't. Every piece of goat in mine was either too fatty or tough. And it was bone-in, which wasn't mentioned on the menu. Small-ish portion too. Appetizers were stale and dry. The naan was okay, but a bit crumbly. The rice was fine, but just rice. I'd be happy not going back.
