Donuts are my friend Lollie’s thing. We were talking about the best places to get them and she told me about Anna’s Hand Cut Donuts in West Roxbury. This hole in the wall place is open at 5am and are sold out by lunch. Old timers sit at the counter and chat while drinking coffee and eating breakfast. This place is cash only and doesn’t have a website or a Facebook page.
A co-worker brought a dozen glazed doughnuts into the office and they were delightful! Doughnuts were fluffy and tasted homemade as opposed to what you’d find at a dunks or chain.
Would definitely recommend and I’ll make an effort to stop at the store at some point in the near future
Small family-run coffee shop with delicious donuts and coffee and excellent service. They are however cash only so make sure you bring cash or use the ATM inside.
With a “dunkies” on every corner, it’s easy to miss these small, independent donut shops, but Anna’s is by far the best around!! Their honey-dip donuts literally melt in your mouth! Dieters beware - if you eat one, you’ll want 3 or 4 more right away!!
Oh I love the doughnuts in this little musty smelly shake. It still smells of the hundreds of thousands of mise that probably still live here, god only knows how many times the health department has shut this place down. The people from west Roxbury are the most naïve people in the State.
They say they close at 1:00... apparently that means 12:50... I wish I could give them a higher review but I never got to try anything, that's kind of a big obstacle to overcome.
Sure I get it, work in the service industry can be tough, but if you have such a comparatively small window during which you're open, why do you have to close early? If you run out of product, that's fine, but a small sign on the front door would be appreciated.
I'm happy to change this review once I try the product, but I will say that this was a most unpleasant experience.
UPDATE: Scratch it. Scratch it all. The donuts are worth it. They're THAT good.
Amazing donuts. The jelly stick donuts will change your life! After trying thier donuts you will never want donuts from Dunkin' again. Friendly, quite, cozy. Coffee is good. Great local community feel. They make cook to order breakfast sandwiches and have a great selection of baked breakfast goods! Cash only but there is an ATM inside. Some on street parking and there is a parking lot across the street that's easy to get in and out.
Traditional donut and coffee shop, other breakfast sandwiches but cash only, few tables, counter with stools. Reminds me of what DD used to be in my childhood, fresh and from scratch. Coffee is basic but very good, smooth. Yeast base donuts are very good, especially honey dip which are similar to a KK, but the cake based donuts, not so good.
I always enjoy stopping in at Anna's. Small with a diner atmosphere. The owners are nice and the donuts are great. I usually get a jelly stick or chocolate. The honey dip are also yummy.
I can only speak for the honey dip donuts as well as the chocolate honey dip. These two flavors are the best around especially if you get them early in the morning when they are fresh and still warm. They just melt in your mouth. Move over Kristy Kreme.
They make the best coffee. Hand cut donuts are delicious. The marble cruller is legendary. Great family owned local business for over 50 years.
