The Gypsy Lounge is a great place to kick back and get a drink. The bartenders are really nice and friendly. They have an indoor and outdoor area and not to mention a parking lot! The drinks are mixed well and pretty cheap. They have live music from time to time and it's just a really awesome place to start off the night.

I really love Gypsy Lounge. They are a cool, laid back bar with a very friendly bartender and cheap drinks. They have an outdoor area with plenty of picnic tables, as well as an indoor area with a small stage. The inside also features odd artwork and classic Black and White movies on the screens. Unlike many of the bars on the East Side, you can come here to relax without being bombarded by hipsters.

I definitely agree with what another reviewer said, that this place can be a hit or miss. I've only been here a few times, but overall I feel kind of underwhelmed with the place. I feel like with a name like "gypsy lounge" they could have done better with the atmosphere and decorating. I've always enjoyed the shows here, but the crowd is kind of a hit or miss as well. Sometimes its great and sometimes I've felt like it's 80% creepy drunk males. I want to give it another chance though.

Contrary to what I told people a couple years ago they do NOT have a stripper pole inside. They do have a rather nice back patio area. Decent jukebox, and of course, east side drink prices which means you won't be spending too much dolla.

Though we were here during a SXSW event, I still would never recommend this place. Everything about this place was disgusting, and this is coming from someone who loves East 6th bars. The bouncers at the door were extremely rude and combative, the bathrooms looked and smelled like a "dirty bomb" and the bar itself was trashed and messy. Kinda felt like any drink you'd order there would give you a side of Hep A-C. I hate posting bad reviews but felt very compelled to after this place.

Hit or Miss! Every night here can be completely different. It may be virtually empty at midnight on Friday. One night there will be a captivating singer. The next night there will be a bunch of drunk guys trying to call attention to themselves by hula hooping. There's no way to describe a "usual" crowd.

They serve Lone Star. The band that night was playing some great metal. The crowd was mixed, and the vibe was light. Not the best place I've visited in Austin, but it was fun.
