Excellent Mexican food! Pictured is the shrimp taco, house salad, and the combo plate featuring a cheese enchilada with molé and a pastor taco in a corn tortilla. Frozen margaritas are good. We haven't had a bad thing yet. Fajitas al guajillo are awesome! Beef or chicken with onions, bell peppers, three kinds of chilies, raisins, and pecans. Fish or shrimp a la plancha is good when you are in the mood for seafood that is tender on the inside with slightly crispy edges. Camerones diablo are large shrimp in a creamy, spicy, chipotle sauce. The chicken flautas are very good because the tortillas are thin, the stewed chicken is delicious, and they aren't greasy. If you are looking for something a little different, try fish enchiladas with cartuja sauce. The choriqueso is delicious as well as the michoacan salad. The michoacan is a lime marinated combination of avocado, onion, serrano pepper, tomato and cilantro. There is a self-serve salsa bar with many delicious salsas to go with the complementary chips. I have only been to the north location and it is suitable for small groups and children.

This place is one of Austin's best kept secrets. Amazingly good food (the Fajitas al Guajillo are the best fajitas I've ever had) and good service. It's kind of off the beaten path, but worth the trip. I actually think it's better than the south location.

I have always loved and raved about Polvos but this location has gone down hill for the worst. My family and I walked in and there was absolutely no 1 in there. Something weird was going on with the waitress as she didn’t greet us or say a thing. She just stared at us until I finally say where should we sit?! Like hellooo!??! We sat down in the back kind of by the bar.It was extremely hot to the point we were all sweating so we asked the waitress to turn the air up. The margaritas which are always sooo good were sadly watered down(maybe because it usually get frozen instead of on the rocks). Food was fresh but not as tasty as usual. It’s clear that this location is not taken care of like the 2 downtown locations. Also my order was wrong which I didn’t notice until I got home because I had gotten a 2 go plate. Just really sad

-Edit from an experience I had last year on November. It is the SERVICE and FOOD that make it not worth it. I ordered a margarita and Ribeye Fajitas for dinner. The food was bad I don't even know where to begin. They had way too much fat on them and they definitely over did it with the pieces of garlic and this is coming from a garlic lover who loves garlic. It was just too much, I couldn't eat it. My friend ordered shrimp cocktail and she did not like it either. I used to be a waitress and try not to complain if I don't have to. WELL THIS PLACE WAS BAD ENOUGH, I HAD TO. When it was time to pay for some reason the waitress told us she could split up our food but not our drinks. I do not like places where they don't split checks because it is an inconvenience. In the ten years I've waited tables, and off all places I worked at, they all split checks. It is a TREMENDOUS inconvenience when businesses don't split checks. It was a party of about 10 and after noticing everyone was too busy talking and having a good time to worry about doing the math and writing down who needs to pay what , one of the guys at our table pulled out his card and payed the over $300 tab. Poor guy, he was a friend of the birthday girl we were all celebrating and he even had to pay for people he didn't even know! I gave him cash for my drink but I didn't notice anyone else giving him anything. IT ALL GOES BACK TO THEM NOT SPLITTING CHECKS FOR CUSTOMERS! BY FAR THE WORSE PLACE I have dinned at in a while AND even though it has a convenient location, I am not going back.

Hey give these people a try.I ate here for the first time, the place was empty, so it made me wonder. I still don't understand, the food was delicious and I'll definitely be back. The service was good, the place was clean and comfortable and best of all was the authentic fare. The choice of salsas fresh and delicious. I ordered one of the enchilada plates with ground beef(not greasy) and it was so good, the tortilla is homemade no greasy gravy and the bowl of beans were so delicious I could have made a meal on that alone. Fresh and healthy!

To set the scene - it is a Thursday night around 6. My wife needed to do some business in the area so she asked me I wanted to go with her and grab some food from this place. I really had pretty low expectations because I knew nothing. My first impressions were kinda neutral. The place was pretty empty but it was a Thursday at 6, so I can see that. We ordered drinks and then food. So, admittedly, the food took longer than expected. But, it was REALLY good when it did come. It was easily among the top 5 Mexican meals I have had here. I had the combo plate (taco and enchilada) which were great and my wife had a shrimp dish. We will definitely go back. This place is highly underrated, in my opinion.

The food was pretty good; however, I found my fajitas to be a little salty. Loved the pitcher of margaritas: it was perfect for sharing with a small group. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the decor (chipped paint on the walls, bad lighting) and the kitchen took a while to get our food out to us (it wasn't busy, there was only one other table that wasn't even ordering food). Overall, it was pretty good. Not great, but I'd come back here again. It definitely feels like it's better suited to come when you're in the mood for chips, salsas, and margaritas.

Seems like a family-owned place where the daughters are the waiters, so as long as you go in with patience you'll probably enjoy it. Yes, service is not excellent. Passable, not excellent. Food was great, though. Yes, there was a wait to get the food, even when they weren't busy, but once it came out it was really good. I also had a Mexican Martini that was served in a generous shaker. We'll be back... as long as we're not in a hurry.
