The thought that goes into the dishes at Satay is much deeper than you might expect. Foo ( the owner ) often grows her own ingredients and at the forefront of her dishes is healthy, wholesome food. Many dishes are inspired from authentic Thai recipes but she also gets creative with some, building off her vast experience. Be sure to take home some of her own bottled sauces so you can cook great Thai food at home.

We went there last night, food atmosphere and service were all excellent. Spicing and portion sizes were spot on. We had Satay Chicken Dumplings, Basil Squid and Shrimp and their Nasi Goreng. Also had the pleasure of a lovely chat with Dr. Foo the owner, which finished off a perfect evening. Thank you.

I accompanied my mother to Satay for a late dinner. Neither of us had been to Satay before. We were pleasantly surprised by our knowledgable, attentive, and engaging waiter (Rocky). It was a slow night so we were able to interact with him and found him very helpful. He made great suggestions as to what to order. We thoroughly enjoyed our dishes (Holy Basil chicken and the green curry). Dessert was phenomenal as well. We ordered a dark chocolate pudding (served with fruit in a martini glass) and a lighter chocolate mousse cake. The chocolate cake is made by the owner's husband who is lactose-entolerant and is actually an engineer! The cake was amazing and lactose free! The mousse is made with organic tofu but you would never know it, and the crust is a wonderful (made of graham cracker). The owner, Foo, sat and talked with my mother and I at length. She is so delightful. Foo has a clear passion for food. No MSG in any of their dishes and all of the herbs come from her personal garden. I would recommend anyone to give Satay a try. Our dining experience was exquisite and we will definitely be regulars at Satay. (From reading other reviews, I recommend going at a slower time of day. Also, when you eat in a fine restaurant, portions will be smaller so expect that. You are meant to have a few courses and not to be stuffed by the end of the meal. You are eating to savor the tastes at a fine restaurant, as opposed to filling up on large portions. I recommend ordering a few dishes and dessert to be more full and experience the many different flavors Satay has to offer.)

Great food, so many good vegetarian choices, and lots of things not on a regular Thai restaurant menu. Try Dr. Foo's amazing Siam Mojito (it took a few extra minutes to prepare because she had to go pick the mint!). The service was great and the patio was quiet and relaxing. Our favorite Thai restaurant in Austin. Thanks Satay!

Satay has an amazing variety of Thai dishes. I have tried at least 10 different dishes there and every one of them has been interesting and incredibly delicious. This is my favorite Thai restuarant in Austin.

Having just quit there as a waiter, I can safely say this place has the best Thai cuisine in Austin. The Owner, Foo Swasdee is a nutritionist with a knack for innovation and a warm attitude to top it off. I recommend this place for its basic Thai dishes, Pad Thai and Satay as well as for its more inventive samples off of its Brunch menu. Also the Banana Fritters are the best I've ever had.

Despite not being a huge Thai food aficionado, I've had goo luck at Satay finding things I like. Love the yam and corn pancakes as starters!

Great Thai food in an impressively decorated setting. The food is a little higher priced than other Thai restaurants, but it's quite delicious!
