Great food (try the quiche!). Friendly staff. Fun atmosphere. Everyone says it’s expensive but you get what you for :) it’s not over priced for the quality. The pics below are of the patisserie attached to the restaurant but the review stands true for the restaurant as well. Great place to brunch on the weekends!

While Austin is not overrun with French restaurants, we have a couple of good ones, so I'm happy to report that we've added a great new option. The escargot and steak tartarre hold their own against versions I've had at other restaurants (the snails here are served in an herb pesto and are topped with nickel sized puff pastry, which is notable) and the burger can likewise compete, but the deviled eggs at Le Politique are the best I've had anywhere and I have them EVERYWHERE they are offered.

Le Politique has always been solid every time I visit for lunch or dinner. The mussels and fries here are my go-to), and my dining companions have also raved about the steak frites and burger. I'm also a huge escargot fan, though theirs isn't my favorite. However, the star of the show is the Paris Brest on the dessert menu! I'm not a huge sweets or dessert person usually, but I was intrigued by the Earl Grey ice cream and yuzu mandarin curd, so I ordered it on a whim and am literally obsessed. It was by far one of my favorite desserts ever. I could eat it every day, and would come back for that one dish alone.

We just popped in for dessert and the bartender recommended the lemon tarte (which probably had a much fancier name) and the cheese platter. Both were SO yummy! The atmosphere of the restaurant is quaint & I felt like I really was in a French cafe!☺

We had rsvp for Sat at 5:45p and got seated by the back door and immediately asked to be relocated which they’ve accommodated nicely. Started off with side car cocktails which was fantastically made. Nice homemade French bread & whipped butter came shortly after. The small seafood tower was perfect starter along with the moist cheesy gougeres (cheese puffs). Star of the show were the raw clams and oysters and broiled shrimp. The broiled cold lobster was overdone and although tasty is probably best served hot with melted butter. We enjoyed champagne cocktails (off-menu) with our seafood tower and which surprised me when the waitress never heard of it. For dinner we decided on the ribeye special for two which came with potato gratin and paired with a Bordeaux wines. The rib eye arrived in a nice rose gold serving platter and it was a knock out! Perfectly medium rare and precut for easy sharing. We couldn’t finish it and took the 1/3 of it home along with some nice crusty french bread. We we’re stuffed and sadly had to passed on the dessert and cheese course. Overall a nice Modestly decorated place. The dinner area is separated from the main reception/cold bar & cocktail bar. Had lovely pastel pink drapes to help dampen the noise some. The bathroom was tucked behind the bar which was hard to get to as the bar patrons and tables are mostly in the path. The cocktail Bar area looked awesome except the bench seating looked rather hard without cushions. The cold bar seating area is low without back support which is not inviting as your back is to the front door. We were skeptical about the service from some of the early bad reviews but they appeared to have improved during the time frame we went. The bakery next door isn’t opened yet but looks promising. Le Politique is really good value for the money and offers generous portions in an intimate classy space. It’s like an upscale bistro with a fantastic raw bar and it’s a local joint which we like to support.

Lovely ambiance. Great waitstaff and very good food. The oysters were some of the best I’ve had in town (if not flat out the best) and definitely rivaled places like Perlas. The French onion soup was phenomenal. The lunch fixe was quite nice with lovely little steak medallions. For desert we had a medley of macarons that were delightful. My two favs were the earl grey and pistachio which had a wonderful almond filling. The only thing I didn’t like was the deviled eggs. I love deviled eggs with caviar so ordered these up. It was too tangy from the relish layer at the bottom and I was hoping for more of the salty pop you would get from black caviar. It just really was not good. Everything else more than made up for it though. Had a well pulled espresso to top it off. Very nice highbrow lunch. It’s pricy but worth it for the right occasion. Would give a 4.5 if that were an option.

An out of town friend and I did our birthday month dinner here and it was absolutely fabulous! From the ambiance, to the decor, to the food/drinks, and especially the service, this place became one of my handsdown favs in Austin! We ordered a bottle of bubbly (natch) and we killed it, but our waitstaff never let us see the bottom of our glasses and it was served perfectly cold each pour! The waitstaff here is what really made the meal, imho! The collaboration between everyone was phenomenal and I loved that I think we got to meet each one of the waitstaff during our meal and each and every one was an absolute delight! The food itself was all fantastic! We got full off our apps and charcuterie board, so I def want to return and give their entrees a full perusing! The waitstaff were also so sweet to do a little bday dessert w/macarons and a candle and signed cards! It really made us feel special! My friend and I loved our desserts and loved that they had cognac & banyuls! Such an amazing experience that I can't wait to go back!

This is a review of the bakery "Patisserie" (not the restaurant). Best pains au chocolat in Austin (and elsewhere!). The turning is perfect. It tastes delicious and buttery, both crunchy and soft. My only regret is the sugar coating on top - that is unnecessary - and the price ($5). But it is so perfect that you quickly forget about the latest. Definitely something to try for anyone who wants to taste what a really good croissant dough tastes like. They also offer a large selection of macarons and a few types of breads.

Great ambiance, delicious food, and attentive and knowledgeable staff. Love the roasted chicken, gougeres, and escargot. The new crudo is also unreal! Save room for dessert because the bombe au chocolat is out of this world.

What a delightful experience! I’ve been here multiple times for lunch, dinner, and brunch. Hands down the best French onion soup I’ve ever had. The oysters and other cuisine is also fantastic. They have a great wine and beer selection as well. On a nice day we take our dog and sit on the patio for hours. (Side note: If they could improve on anything it would be service, they are a little slow at times, but it’s not terrible... just wanted to mention it, since there is room for improvement, much like many other places in Austin! Hah)
