Lovely place to eat whether by oneself with a book, chatting with friends, or ordering cakes for special occasions. Staff friendly and helpful and food very satisfying.

Quaint bakery with an amazing looking case of sweets and savory items. The cinnamon rolls are probably the 2nd or 3rd best I’ve ever had, only behind Ann Sather’s in Chicago and maybe White Wold Cafe in Orlando…and the only reason is because uppercrusts doesn’t have glaze. Add glaze to them and Guy Fieri or somebody would be there in a heartbeat. Lots of cute old people eating early lunch there. Good vibes. Got an apple pie for a dinner party and will share an update how how it tastes!

The absolute greatest cinnamon rolls in the history of the universe. The chocolate Italian cream cake is one of my favorite all time desserts - moist, rich and filled with nuts. Delicious!! I love the old Austin vibe and strongly recommend Upper Crust to anyone who's looking for an authentic Austin bakery experience

Great place to grab a great treat. You pay a little more than you would expect, but you’re also getting quality and atmosphere. If you’re looking for a quiet place to get some work done, this is your spot, also, as well as having a nice conversation with a friend.

A true Austin gem, Upper Crust Bakery is an icon in the bakery-sandwich-soup arena. Family members have been going to Upper Crust for decades and introduced me to the establishment when I moved to Austin 15 years ago. A "go to" place for a super delicious sandwich/soup combo for lunch, a mainstay for ordering fantastic cakes for family celebration occasions, and a great place to stop of a slice of delicious cake or pie with a cup of coffee. This stop featured a "spider-themed" cake (red velvet cake) for a birthday party, as well as my customary slice of Italian Cream Cake. Sampled the Italian Cream cake last evening, deelish as always! Birthday party is later today, so no intel on the red velvet cake as of the time of writing. No doubt it will be a solid 10/10, as always! Great Central Austin location. Staff is always friendly and helpful! Parking can be tricky in the small lot next to the building, you can turn north into the back parking lot off of 45th Street, just be aware it can be tight traveling back there ... two-way traffic (so says the sign), but if there are cars parked back there, it's one car through at a time, whichever way you're going. Highly recommend UCB! PS... RE: the pic of the eating area, it was closing time when we stopped by to pick up the cake, that's why the place looks empty, it's usually packed!

The Upper Crust Bakery in Austin, Texas is a great place. It was Good Friday, and somehow I heard Hot Cross Buns mentioned. I remembered my Mom making Hot Cross Buns. She was an excellent cook. I didn't know where the tradition came from in her life, but she and I were similar free spirits, Both of us were raised as Protestants, and perhaps were both agnostic. Investigating recipes led me to the conclusion I needed more time, and had none. A call to Upper Crust located their last remnant of Hot Cross Buns. That and a loaf of their excellent whole wheat bread, and they held the goods as I traveled to their bakery. Thank you, Upper Crust Bakery!

The best Italian Cream Cake and the best service! The mocha chocolate almond we weren't as impressed with...maybe a chocolate Italian cream would be awesome!?!

This is a pretty great pretty bakery! Limited selection but all of it is good! I particularly like the ham and cheese croissants with everything seasoning. And they're puffed cinnamon rolls are to die for. I'd also like to say I have a honey allergy in my family and it's really nice that they're always willing to go check for me if a specific pastry has honey in it!

Stopped in and got a cinnamon roll and an apple turnover. Both were very flakey and tender. The cinnamon roll had a nice, almost Carmel like chew on the outside. Cute bakery in a nice area, but not the friendliest staff.
