Agreed with most reviews here that "old legacy authentic Chia Shiang is gone". Ordered twice for carry-out since the pandemic and were not satisfied with the dishes we ordered. For me personally I would just simply not go back though this place used to be one of my favs in AA.
Owner's replies on Google are also horrible. People leave negative feedback on your business is because they aren't satisfied with their experience and want to bring the issue to your attention. It doesn't necessarily mean they are your "competitor". It's very rude if you accuse someone leaves negative comments to your business intentionally but can't list any proven evidences. Totally understand running a small business is not easy and negative reviews could hurt your reputation, but it's just really unprofessional if you can't keep a hold of emotions and read customer's feedback objectively.

Had a nice dinner for 3 here. Everything was really good, though anticipate spice. They made one dish with just half spice for my mother in law and it was still too spicy. They had lots of vegetarian options, and even plenty with mock meats too. They gave me the wrong dish, but they one they served me I thought of ordering anyhow and it was great (Chinese eggplant with garlic sauce). My wife found a lotus root dish that looked good based on a Yelp picture, so she showed them. They didn't bring the dish from the picture but another lotus root dish. It was enormous--it took up a whole casserole dish. Unfortunately it was an unexpected $45 too. Overall we would like to go back and try more, but next time we will be more exact with what we are ordering.

Love this cozy restaurant. Best place to get authentic Shanghai and Zhejiang style dishes in Ann Arbor. You can get solid northern dishes here as well. They have the best quality of food and friendliest service among Chinese restaurants near the central campus.

A pretty authentic Chinese restaurant in Ann Arbor. They provide a bunch of Shanghainese dishes, in addition to cuisine from other areas of China. “Liang Pi” ( a Xi-an style appetizer) would only be available on the weekends. “Xiang You Shan Hu” (a Shanghainese style rice field eel) would only be available upon reservation. Moreover, they also provide Shanghai style salty soybean milk. If you haven’t tried that before, I suggest you do so. Their servers are very kind.

This used to be a good restaurant. Alas, no longer. Out of the three dishes in our take out order, one was barely edible and two were just nasty. Especially disappointed with the Sichuan boiled beef which was truly foul.
Never. Going. Back.

Delicious, I usually order for delivery, sometimes Chowbus is busy and I pick up the food instead. Always good and will be back.

I ordered the orange chicken and fried rice to go it was fresh, hot and delicious. Customer service was polite and efficient. My first time ordering from here I will be back. Now I'm adding to my first review of this restaurant different from prior experience with them. The nerve to take my hard earned money and give me oily, soggy, overcooked leftovers. My egg roll was placed in the orange chicken sauce I guess to hide the fact that you gave me less chicken? Broccoli overcooked, and rice lukewarm and tasted smoky. This is not the experience I had in the past. Did the previous cook quit? Please treat ALL customers the same. When I entered your restaurant you acted as if I was a criminal only one of you were nice as she always is. I'm a law abiding citizen. Never judge a book by its cover. I have worked in retail for 25 yrs. I treat ALL customers with dignity and respect.

If you enjoy spicy food, I highly recommend the Xinjiang style spicy chicken and spicy shrimp in hot pot. Yum.
The portions are more than generous. I ordered 4 dishes and they can easily feed 8 adults.
This is not the typical Americanized Chinese restaurant. People recognize that and celebrate the uniqueness. That’s something I love about Ann Arbor.
