My favorite taqueria East of San Antonio. Their food is authentic, delicious, and a decent price. A little hard to find but definitely worth the effort. Tacos de Lengua are my favorite!

AUTHENTIC! I’m from Texas and in most of the country, cities north and east of Texas. Mexican food is really TexMex. That being said, in Texas we have both so I know the difference very well. My “go to” meal when I had a long night and I’m feeling it in the morning is Menudo and crispy Tripa tacos. A real Mexican home cooked meal. Im not saying it’s the best I ever had, but I was pleasantly surprised that it was as delicious as it was.

It is hard to find authentic Mexican food this far from Mexico but I think this is an easy exception to that rule. There is seating, but I chose to take out. Small language barrier perhaps but definitely worth the culture shock. The food is above and beyond your average taco spot. Be warned the entrance doesn't have a lot of room for lines so you might have to stand outside I'm all waiting to order. Don't let that stop you, this place is fantastic!

Definitely authentic Mexican food. The salsa wasn't clearly labeled & I would've been better off eating magma. Atmosphere could be better & service was a little slow, even though there weren't many customers there. Food is really really good though & very reasonable prices! Will go back! Just be cautious of the salsas. 🔥

The place, if I recall it was a bit of a hole in the wall. I went with two other white guys and we were the only white folk in the joint, I knew we were in the right spot. It seemed pretty authentic..the food was great. My friends were hesitant, but glad we ate there.

Los portales is the best place in Wilmington for tacos. I have been to a lot of taquerias but this one takes the cake. Their service is fast, the food is amazing, and I love the outdoor seating. And the horchata is delicious too

Very authentic. Very spicy but very good. The language barrier was hard but entertaining. They can cook but don't speak to good of English. Very kind people working their though.

Very good real Mexican food! Everything was well put together, served hot and very filling. I enjoy their tortas and tacos. This is not your typical "authentic mexican food" place, this is motherland quality food. So don't expect to come in here and have chips and fake salsa served. Their food always comes out with top notch flavor. Their dressing station is also nicely maintained with choices of 4 different salsas, cut up radishes, onions, cilantro and other toppings. Their prices are not steep either.

Overall this location is not very attractive or easily seen, however there is two access points to the parking lot. One off of Kerry and the other I'd off of south college. There are two other locations across wilmington. NC. The OTHER location off of Sigmon and market, near the midtown Walmart is better aesthetically. The food here is very flavorful and authentic. I would say it's one of the best Hispanic lunch/dinner spots on town. I do prefer LA Costa Mexican restaurants but flavor wise TAQUERIA LOS PORTALES is number one in my book. Also cost wise. The over meal cost is less than the other Mexican restaurants in town .

My family and friends stopped by here for a quick bite to eat. You enter and order you food before you take a seat. Staff was friendly and the food was amazing!!! I would say this has been the best authentic Mexican food I have ever ate. Bathrooms were a little dirty. Very little sanitization was done while we were in the restaurant based on what we observed.
