La Tolteca

I had an excellent "LA Flaka" salad with grilled chicken. There were several interesting salad options! And rather one of the many different Mexican beer and margarita selections, I chose a grilled pineapple mojito! It was excellent! The chips and salsa were the run of the mill distributed stuff, or I would have rated La Tolteca higher.

Plenty of seating outside and inside. Was seated right away. Drinks and food were delivered quickly after ordering. The nachos were fresh and warm and the salsa was mild enough to not bother my tastebuds (doesn't like spicy foods). The staff was very friendly and quick about everything. Food was delicious and very filling. The guacamole was made at the tables on mobile carts.(didn't get guacamole but nice touch). Took a little bit to get the check but it was getting busier at that time. Highly recommend for something different and unique other then chain restaurants!

My daughter and I stumbled upon this place while in the area for a college visit. We’re both seasoned veterans of Mexican food and critical of the places that we patronize. (Neither one of us is a big food reviewer or photographer.) We arrived on a Wednesday, about 1:30pm and were promptly seated in our covered patio table, as requested. Dave, our server, attended to our drink and meal orders quickly. I ordered the special watermelon Margarita and the shrimp tacos. My daughter ordered a chicken and cheese quesadilla platter. The table-side point of service ordering facilitated us getting our drinks and food in amazingly quick time. The Margarita was scrumptious. Both lunch platters were extraordinary! This was the second best shrimp tacos that I’ve ever had, and I’ve had A LOT! They didn’t need the extra sauce (served on the side) because the sauce the shrimp were cooked in, along with the veggies in the tacos, provided plenty of flavor. (I did save the sauce to take hole and use on eggs or something this weekend.) My side of refried beans was phenomenal, as was my daughter’s rice. I HIGHLY recommend this place and look forward to eating there if my path takes me that way some day again!

The only thing better than the food is the service. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The food is fresh and flavorful. The portions are generous with a good selection of texmex style items. They also have a very extensive selection of tequilas. The dining room is cozy and clean, but they do a great job of neatly packing up to go orders if you cannot stay.
