This is a rather peculiar building. A big metal thing with the entire outer surface painted in such a way as to suggest it is actually many different shops. I only photographed the 2 functioning doors. It was cold and sleeting that day. Inside it was cozy and quite utilitarian. You ordered at a counter and then when they called your name you picked it up. Simple and efficient. We got there a few minutes before noon and it was just starting to pick up steam. By 12:15 there was a considerable line.
Big Hoffa's Barbecue was a great find in my travels. While the brisket was good, the pulled pork was outstanding. The baked beans needed a little help with a mixture of the sweet and the spicy sauces, but the cayenne potato salad that the young lady at the counter sold me on had an excellent taste sensation. It's not fancy and if pirate memorabilia upsets you, you're not going to like the interior. But I found it all rather interesting. Big Hoffa's has some very good to excellent barbecue, the portions are more than generous, and I would highly recommend a visit if you're in the northern suburbs of Indianapolis.

I randomly decided to go here. It's a little weird getting to it because it shares a building with a flea market or something, plus you have to walk around the building to get to the door (it's on the side by the road).
They have great BBQ. Which is the foundation for a great BBQ joint. But then they combine their BBQ with such awesome and unique creations that it makes it a step above most others. I would almost call it the Hipster BBQ with its awesome options.
The thing that puts it over the top is the homemade tea. It is a sweet tea with sassafras. I don't care if you know what that is, but it is absolutely fantastic and is the closest thing to crack I've ever tried in terms of addiction.
In town for soccer tournament and stumbled across this place. Friendly greeting, lots of choices, and quick delivery of great food! Will stop in again when in town.

Big Hoffa’s Smokehouse BBQ in Westfield, IN, is a testament to her wise words of wisdom; their ribs are smoked for 12 hours – slipping off the bone, pork for 25, and beef brisket 30. Having known both good and bad BBQ of the Midwest I can attest that Big Hoffa’s is the real deal.
I have always loved Big Hoffa's! My new favorite is their Korean BBQ tacos, with the beef brisket. Yum yum yum!!! I have cravings for these. So unbelievably good. I'm addicted to their sweet tea. Not sure what they put in it, but OMG it beats the pants off of true southern sweet tea.
My absolute favorite place!!! I always get the pulled pork sandwich with extra cup of BBQ and dbl fries with 2 pints of pickles!! If I could I would eat here every single day with no regret!! The best BBQ around within 1000 miles :)
Outstanding food at a great price. Owner is super friendly and patio to sit on is so nice. We love driving out here to eat on the weekend. Definitely recommend this place.
Torn.... We went to Big Hoffa's tonight...and I'"m torn....the pulled meats were great......the rib tips were TERRIBLE...grissly and almost inedible....we did enjoy the sides......the places was SLAM JAM PACKED.....and it was so unorganized...none of the tables were clean to sit and a patron actually offered to clean them for others so we could sit down. I'm not sure if I'd try it again or not.....I may get pulled meat and sides for take out after this experience.
AMAZING!!!!!. Seriously??? I don't know what I was missing. I have driven by this place so many times and I finally stopped. I am sure happy I did. Amazing service, great food (very interesting menu items), and a really cool place. Place was very busy when I walked in and i was worried I would be in line for a while but I literally got my food within 4-5 minutes. Great people running this place. They were so friendly and they work so hard back there. Can't wait to go back. Loved the food and I will be back!!!
Best BBQ around! Seriously, go for one of their specialty sandwiches rather than just plain brisket or pulled chicken/pork (even though theyre good too!). For dessert, hit up the attached creamery for one of their MONSTER sundaes. LOVE this place.
We got there right when it opened, the outside of the building has an amazing pirate theme mural and it carries over to the inside. Had the brisket sandwidch, Mac and cheese and fries. Was perfectly cooked and had great flavor
😳Damn this BBQ is good! Listen, this place is rated by the Food Network as the best BBQ joint in Indiana. I have NO BEEF with that. What I do know is every dish we ordered was super flavorful and delicious. (See photos captions)

I hope you're ready to get your fingers covered in BBQ sauce because you're going to want to use your hands. The delicious meat offerings will spur your prival instincts to eat meat with your bear hands. I opted for the brisket and was not disappointed. It was juicy, tender (surprising for brisket), and full of smokey flavor. While there are only two types of BBQ sauce, the spicy was super tasty! I got a side of fries, slaw, and garlic butter rolls. Everything was outstanding. The atmosphere is very casual and the place has a pirate theme which is interesting. There is also an ice cream shop through a set of doors. The shakes they can make are UNBELIEVABLE! I didn't have much room after my food so I only had one scoop of ice cream. This place would be a blast for large get together or a family fun night out. Wander over to Westfield and check this place out. If you've heard of this place, you don't need to take my word for it. I'm sure someone has already told you how good it is. If you're reading this review to decide whether or not to go, just go. You're not going to get much better BBQ in the area.
So delicious! My first time was a busy Saturday evening, but that didn't matter one bit. The food was fresh, delicious, and fast! They even had the smoker going outside! Got the souvenir cup and filled it with iced tea - twice - so good!!! The best meat was the smoked sausage in my opinion! The meals were priced very fair with good portions. Everything was clean and the staff was incredibly kind and helpful! Ended the night in the freezery - will be back!
Very nice BBQ joint. Clean, efficient, with friendly employees. Will definitely be back when in the area again. Was going to buy a shirt for my husband, but it wasn't pirate themed, so I passed on it.
The barbecue was delicious but what was over the top for me was their peach cobbler! Will definitely be returning for that dessert alone!
What a great place. The BBQ has always been spot on. I have had brisket, pulled pork, chicken and the ribs. All were cooked perfectly with great flavor. I love the sassafras and watermelon teas. Unique, refreshing, and delicious. The pirate theme is fun and the atmosphere is great. Good luck choosing what you want, but whatever you choose you can't go wrong. I'll be back and recommend you try them out too.
Go to BBQ joint in Westfield area. Ordered the Amendment and the Hoffanator. I love the veggies, rice, and brisket in the Amendment. Good smoke flavored brisketand good portion. And the rolls are amazing! Son loves the Hoff and gets it every time we’re in town! Line goes quick and worth the little wait time.
The food is awesome! It's been a couple of years since we've been there,and the place has been redone. It has lots of tables now in place of the old antique shop. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone delicious! Glad we were able to get back!
