The Yellow House used to be the go to place for food in the DMV area… Now, this place is terrible..!!! This place has poor customer service, they try to over charged me along with having a attitude when I ask for my change and a receipt. How you don’t know how to properly fix a sausage egg and cheese sandwich, also how do you serve potato wedges instead of home fries for breakfast??? Nothing about this meal is fresh…! I do not recommend this place to anyone!!!! #yellowhouse

Well...I went here, I got food, I ate...I left. A plethora of the people that follow my page, requested me to visit, and review this spot, so I obliged...much to my dismay. The food was good, the service was deplorable!! Unfortunately I expected the service at Yellow House located on 4011 Minnesota Ave., N.E. Washington D.C. to be subpar. I walk in, I was looked at, no other patron was occupying any space in there except me, not one person spoke to me. I walk to the counter...the cashier walks away. I noticed a sign that said cash only, I didn’t ask...I just pulled some cash out. As the cashier came back (fully masked), I noticed she was clinching her masked covered nose. She didn’t ask what I’d like to order, so I just ordered...5 wings, potato wedges, and a half and half (half tea drink half lemonade drink). The meal was $17.50, which is overpriced. It would be a 10 min wait so I walk back to my car. I walk back in, ten mins later, and there were 3 ladies in line. My food was ready, so she motioned, aggressively, for me to come to the counter. I went...she’s still holding her nose. I was alarmed at that, and asked her was it me that was repugnant to her nostrils. She said yes!! Apparently my Frankincense & Myrrh fragrance disturbed her so much that she had to clinch her nose, over her mask, as if she were a novice going under water. The ladies in the spot became defensive, and assured me that I smelled good, and that the cashiers behavior was rude, and extremely childish. Please don’t subject yourself to this behavior good people...it’s not healthy for you nor them. Your dignity, integrity, and self worth are much more important than some convenient food that’s not well priced!! I will NEVER go back to this place. That’s it. #theyellowhouseminnesotaave #rude #subparservice #horriblecustomerservice #neveragain #thatsit

This is the “WORST” breakfast spot for breakfast in DC,don’t be in a rush(like most working Americans do M-F) because it takes forever. The cashier is rude,& they can care less about the community that’s putting “CASH ONLY” in their pockets...I won’t spend another coin there…DONT GO #DontWasteYourTime PS.And the food was terrible #WOOD

The lady at the shop was so rude to my mother in law , we tried to order 15 wings and the total came up to $50. The lady was rude and shouting after we asked how much is 5 wings because the menu has different prices. I will not ever come back to this place because of the rudeness from the owner or server whomever she is she has been there for decades.

The lady that works at the front was very rude and unprofessional. She did not acknowledge me when I walked in and nobody else was in the establishment at the time. When I was asking questions about the menu she would walk away and tell me to give her a minute while she prepared food literally in the mist of me placing a order. All while rolling her eyes as if I was wasting her time. I'm 7 months pregnant and as hungry as I was I had no choice but, to walk out because I could no longer endure the blatant disrespect and unprofessionalism. It's crazy how these places think theyre doing a favor for the customer, when without us you will have no business.

Today my coworker and I order from this establishment through DoorDash. When my coworker opened her tray and began to eat there was a long strand of hair in between the potato wedges and chicken wings. I immediately called Yellow House and she said it was the drivers hair. Clearly it wasn't because the driver hardly had any hair at all. If you're reading this, please don't eat here. Clearly they aren't using the food and health regulations where preparing food. Also, I will be contacting the department of health about how unsanitary this matter is. No one should have to be subjected to having hair in their food and for you to be nasty and rude about it.

Ordered breakfast platter today with potato wedges. The potatoes had a long hair on it that I bit off. Immediately I became nauseous. Called the yellow house and was told they did not know what happened. The person on the phone stated:It was not me. Hair is never acceptable in anyone's food. If this could be corrected and discussed with maturity I would not be writing this review. I have certainly learned my lesson from this experience. But I will not order from Yellow house ever again in person or through DoorDash. Cover your face and hair when food handling..

I have been going here since the 90's. Great food.... best mumbo sauce in DC! However, they have increasingly hiked up their prices over the years. 4 wings and wedges use to be $4.85 now 4 wings and wedges are $9.80. Also they are cash only business which is a major downfall because you can't use your credit/debit card.

Best place ever!. People fail to realize that if you want some good deep fried chicken, you are going to have to wait. The front people are always friendly and they give exceptional service. I've been in there many times and have witnessed a few times, rude customers. But somehow the people in the front always get blamed for the rude customers. Whoever does not like the Yellow House food, obviously doesn't understand food because their lazy asses can't go anywhere else!

So I returned around 1pm where it was much more crowded then 11am. The customer service dropped from great to okay. In the middle of the rush they ran out of fried chicken which took about 20mins to get done (I didn't plan to spend 20 mins of my break in there). I ordered three wings and potato wedges and the price was $5.65. Ummmm a little pricey too me especially when Popeyes was having their Tuesday special. But the food was good.

-----29 Sep, 2012-----

I went yesterday morning after seeing a picture of fried chicken and potato wedges on a friends page. I ordered wings and wedges and fried shrimp and wedges. The wings looked dry because they were sitting under the heat lamp but to my surprise they were amazingly good. The fried shrimp were 6 large shrimp with a little too much breading but still good. The lemonade ice tea mix was awful. The workers were nice and down to earth and very much in tune with their regular customers. The food was a little pricey but I'll come back I'm a fan of their mumbo sauce. The only downside for me is they only accept cash I hardly ever carry cash.

No Class. When you First walk in to the door it looks like every other Asian/American Carry out with several exceptions. 1.The Food is terrible. its just thrown together as fast and as sloppy as possible with no care at all. 2. and possbly most important the employees are rude and dont seem to be very happy with their jobs and it shows. My last telephone order(a call in order for pick up) was met with a very non-professional atitude as well as what i would call total disdain for ones Job. I guess being in an extreme urban setting has totally alienated these folk from doing their jobs professionally. What a shame. I would'nt recommend this place to my worst enemy.
