Thursday night Karaoke was a blast! Convenient location just up from the U street metro stop. Multilevel. Staff were great!

Hands down my all time favorite dive-bar in DC, and I say that with tons of love and respect. There is no pretension here, and all are welcome, you won’t go broke drinking, you can bring your to-go food, and there’s always something fun to do!
Aside from their massive, excellent cover patio that lets you watch all the fun of U St, there are also two bars inside. Downstairs is where all the regulars begin and end their night, where the owners are just as likely to be behind the bar as the employees.
Upstairs they hold events almost every night of the week - from comedy, to trivia, to bands, to plays. And of course Kostume Karaoke every Thursday, which is a crazy night of doing shots with the KJs on your birthday, and meeting crazy strangers wearing tiaras or judo gis (provided by the karaoke hosts) to sing!
The walls tell the history of the bar, especially behind the bar and in the bathrooms. But the bartenders and regulars will tell you just as easily themselves - and what a long crazy history it’s been! Ask them about when the car crashed through the window, or the Caps won the Cup, or the neighbors almost sent it all crashing down during an ill-fated renovation.
This is no a fancy dress up joint - although no one thinks twice if you walk in looking your best. You come here to be comfortable, to have well poured, affordable drinks, to have the bartenders become your besties, to meet your new best friends just chilling at the bar.

Niel the bartender made it clear that my safety mattered more to him than profit - a rarity in DC. I tried to tip him extra but he literally would not let me. This is my favorite bar in DC and you won't see me missing out on a chance to be here any time soon.

Exceptionally good! Best bar and bartender in town! Lots of different drinks: many beers (local and international) and a lot of really good whiskey's
We came there for a quick drink but it was so nice we stayed really long! Super friendly owner and always up for nice chat!
I recommend this bar to everyone!!!

Solly’s is a perfect two-story dive bar. Memorabilia galore, cheap whiskey, and great service. There’s an ATM inside, Big Buck Hunter arcade game in the corner, and always amazing music playing. Ask for Antoine when you arrive.

Fantastic and consistent U st bar with awesome staff, drink specials, and food!

Solly's is a great place for comedy, both to watch and perform. Everytime I have been there, The Comedy Attic has been packed. This makes sense as the comics are good and the drinks are priced well. It is in a cool area of DC with a great vibe and diverse area so there is lots to do after the show, including hitting the bar downstairs.

A great dive bar! Friendly bartender, good prices and most importantly ice cold beer! Stayed in the neighbourhood during a recent trip to DC and come to Solly’s twice. Would recommend!

Cheap drinks, but I do miss the BBQ. Dope chill spot.

If you're looking to tour the real of D.C. and U street, Solly's is definitely a stop you need to make. Real, unique, and a hidden gem that let's you escape the world but still watch it through a windowed nook with beer

I had a wonderful time at Sollys. I love to karaoke and have been bar hopping around the city trying to find a place. This one is pretty cool. I went in Thursday around 8pm and the bar is upstairs. There is a stage, costumes, and 3 mics available. Sound quality is dope, nice song selection. People actually participated in dressing up as well. I sang about 4 songs and had like 6 drinks LOL. Bartender was amazeballs. I had a fantastic night and can't wait to return.

Came back for another night of Karaoke. Had a blast! Some things I forgot to mention. You can totally bring outside food in. You add your songs online. The KJ takes tips, please tip the KJ. There are a bunch of costumes you can put on, but I usually wear my own. Both are welcome.
Drinks are $10-20. Sabrina the bartender is AMAZEBALLS and tip her also. Really dope place!

Casual and relaxed bar on U street with decent space inside and a nice patio. They don't have any beers on tap, but they have a decent selection of cans and do beer + shot specials. Bartenders are always quick and the food here is amazing. Really great smoked meat sandwiches, fries, and a variety of BBQ sauces.

Cozy bar atmosphere. Decent list of food options. Good place to watch a game with several big screens upstairs. Nice outdoor seating area that has afternoon shade. Beers are all in cans and there is a nice selection of craft beers and usually a few on a good deal.

Perhaps one of the best bars in DC. The bartenders are exceptionally charismatic, and the patrons seem to match the energy you'd expect on a given day. It draws a mixed crowd--from blue collar to white collar, yuppie transient to local, young to old--and it somehow strikes the right balance through such. The outdoor patio is pleasant and the interior has a quality, cosy, classic layout. The upstairs is nice, and the karaoke and live music events that it hosts are a lot of fun, though the downstairs will typically draw the most energy on a given night.

Great dive bar in an area with an increasing number of fancy spots. Prices are reasonable and the happy hour deals are good (especially if you’re okay with low brow brews). They have perfectly acceptable bar bites but I wouldn’t go there specifically to eat.

Have gone here on a few first dates. It's a great place with plenty of options for a fun time. The music isn't blasting downstairs doi you can actually talk and you can choose from karaoke and live bands to really spice up a date. All in all, a great bar!

I’ve been coming to Solly’s for Wednesday trivia night for a couple of months now. It’s a great environment and my favorite trivia in DC! A lot of trivia tends to revolve around Gen X or elder Millennial pop culture, which I wasn’t alive for or was too young to remember or really be a part of. Here even if the trivia questions reference older movies, events, etc., they tend to ask questions about more recent happenings. For example, what band formed in the 80s was awarded something in the last year. They also have questions about more than just pop culture, which I really like. For example, one category recently was to name the city/state when given the meaning of the Native word it was named after.

I stopped in for costume karaoke with some friends, which ended up being a lot of fun. The drinks weren't too pricy and the service was speedy. I liked how both levels have bars. The bottom bar was rather dark, but quaint. It was far more lively at the bottom level. Still, I'd be happy to go back on a weekend. It was a decent dive bar.

Usually if I don't have something nice to say, I don't say it at all, but last night was different. We went to Solly's located in my neighborhood on U Street and I've been there before to watch basketball upstairs. It is nothing special... a dive bar. Cra
