Food was delicious and fresh, generous portions to go. I ordered to go wast in the mood to dine. Called in order , I live close by , 10 -15 min after ordering food was waiting for me. Location is not the most desirable but food is on point. Glad I finally tired it. Will definitely be going back
This was a surprising find on the way home. There's not much to see from the outside, but the restaurant itself is quite large and fitting for dinner. My friends and I ordered some food to go, and we were impressed by the amount of food for the price. I had the penang curry with seafood, which was $15. The amount of seafood in the dish was massive. It took me a couple days to finish! There was crab, mussels, octopus, scallops, and shrimp with broccoli. The mussels and octopus needed to be cooked separately (they were a bit tough), but the rest of it was absolutely delicious with the sauce. I'll definitely be going back if I'm in the mood for Thai food!
A favorite appetizer of mine from this Southeast Asian cuisine is Steamed Dumplings. One bite into them was revelatory. They tasted freshly made with the skins were supple from the steaming, and the stuffing was enticing with a savory mix of ground pork and shrimp, exuding an a la minute quality in each mouthful. The side of dark soy sauce was the perfect accompaniment with its slightly sweet dark molasses alongside its soy umami saltiness. The owner exclaimed that this was a big seller hence their freshly-made quality and flavor, which my dining companions raved about. Admittedly, this is one of the best versions I have eaten in the area. Another meat appetizer that equally impressed me was Chicken Satay. The skewers of meat were not the plainly seasoned ones found in most establishments. Here, the meat was properly grilled but still moist with hints of root herbs of galangal and lemongrass, colored by a hit of yellow turmeric. But it was the peanut sauce that sealed the deal with its nutty sweet and creamy mix echoing the use of the root herbs in the bites. Two good appetizers indeed.
Solid Thai food at great prices. I eat at Thai Orchid 2-3 times a week. When I can find a co-worker to order with me, we get delivery; when it's just me, I drive to pick it up. The service is unfailingly excellent - fast and cordial. This is the number one reason why I keep coming back. Their food is very good - my stand-by is the chicken pad Thai - and I appreciate that they take credit and debit cards, unlike other delivery/carry-outs in the area. If you're looking for a fancy Thai restaurant to take an out-of-town guest to, this isn't it: their decor is spare, nothing to write home about. But if you're simply looking for good Thai food at a reasonable price, served by incredibly friendly people, this is the place to go.
This is not a dine in place. They still have it set up like Covid where it’s blocked off and you order through a glass partition.
They are a little pricey but you get huge portions. My food was delicious. I got Jumbo shrimp rolls. And I believe the entree dish I got was called Thai fried rice. with crabmeat, chicken, shrimp, and veggies.
My favorite Thai Restaurant in Washington DC, the food is excellent the customer service is immaculate and the owners are so friendly and inviting. Nice cozy dining room area also.
I'm loyal to this place. The only place in SE DC that makes delicious real Thai food. They cater to my food intolerance and allergies.
YOU MUST TRY THIS PLACE!! Everything we ordered tasted so delicious. I recommend the “pad cee eu with shrimp” as its so flavorful. It was our first time visiting Washington DC and the first restaurant we visited- the employee was very helpful, patient and kind with answering our questions. Tastes authentic. The guy even gave us a little surprise (papaya salad) upon pickup- we’re so grateful! Good prices as well compared to other Thai restaurants we visited in different areas. The large Thai iced tea was DELICIOUS and HUGE for only $5!! One of the yummiest Thai teas!! Cheaper than a small boba. Thank you so much, will come back again before we leave the city!
Crab fried rice is so yummy! Look at the amount of crab meat they give you. I don't even have to add any seasoning.
The premises looks suspicious and the parking/area is hard to navigate for those unaccustomed to the area. However, bad location aside the food is really good and affordable. It's one of those hole in the walls that packs a lot of quality into their dishes.
Food is very good, but service is not the best. If you happen to be in the neighborhood and don’t mind parking in an alley while your food is ready, this is the place to go. It’s the best Thai food in the area.
So far, so good. About 15 orders in, and they have only missed one time when I ordered the fried rice with salmon and for the mounds of rice I got, the salmon was very tiny. I just stick to the drunken noodles or drunken spaghetti with salmon. You can choose your own protein with all their dishes (chicken, shrimp, salmon etc). I wonder if I can get the pineapple rice with salmon instead of chicken, hmmm. I usually get delivery through Uber Eats but did do a pickup order once and the people were pretty nice and helpful and you can park in the alley next to the building for a quick run in to pick up. Don't forget the fried banana with honey for desert!
This is my go to Thai restaurant. I have patronized this spot for years and I continue to return even after moving further away. The food is always promptly prepared. It is also consistently prepared; we all know that food quality tends to vary depending on day and time of day. I have yet to have a bad experience or a wrong order EVER. I typically order the well know dishes - Pad Thai, pineapple fried rice, and drunken noodles. They will also customize dishes including removing nuts and eggs or reducing spicy flavors. I recommend the appetizer sampler and the banana dessert.
Can’t recommend this enough it’s a staple Thai spot for my partner and I. He always orders basil fried rice (minus the green beans) I’ve ordered several things. Love their crab fried rice pineapple fried rice and recently I’ve ordered their Kaprow with chicken and they didn’t disappoint again. I also love the sticky rice.
Also their portions are huge my partner and I both always have lunch the next day
